Is it ok to post about....

used diesel engines for sale I see in the local paper? I am constantly running accross used diesel engines and parts, would it be ok to post about them in the General Diesel forum? I am just trying to help fellow TDS'ers out, but I don't wanna get in trouble!

Thanks.

Re: Is it ok to post about....

I don't think anything with "for sale" can be posted in the forums (unless your a sponsor). Could always put it up in the for sale section, and relay the info.

Now, for payment of my post here, I'll take a 7.3... delivered to my shop if it's not too much trouble

I would use EXTREME caution. This siste changes membership rules allot and what you agreed to before could be changed tomorrow.

In fairness this site belongs to Jason, a cool fellow and I can't thank him enough. But be warned, when the rules change you may not know.

Your're best to PM a moderator.

It's his place....walk softly.

I wouldn't be making any money, I'd just be passing along leads I've found. I understand what you guys are saying though..

Re: Is it ok to post about....

In the IDI forums when one of us stumbles onto something on E-Bay or know of an item the others would be interested in then we let each other know. As long as you're not selling anything I don't see a problem. The mods can clarify but just letting us know about what you discovered sounds okay.

I don't spend much time in the General Diesel forum, but I would say no.

If you see a "want ad" in the for sale section where someone is looking for an engine, then it's okay to answer it - but not in the forums. If you find a really special deal on an engine that you think someone might care about, then it's okay to post a "for sale" ad in the for sale section to point any potential buyers to that engine. But not in the forums.

Re: Is it ok to post about....

Sorry, Smoky. Don's idea sounded pretty benign to me. I just figured alerting our brethren to something they might be interested in would be helpful. Obviously there can't be any personal benefit to making this type of post. Then, if we know someone specifically that is looking for something then a PM is the right way to go.

Re: Is it ok to post about....

like I said I wouldn't be / wouldn't WANT to make any money, I get this semi-local paper that has a huge truck parts section, and sometimes there are used diesel engines, front axles, used suspension lifts etc. and I thought it would be nice of me to pass along the info to someone that might be looking for some good deals.
