I may be looking at this from a differant cultural point of view so if so excuse this. Two new blokes came on the 94 -97 forum yesterday and just said Hi,we're new and we look forward to chatting. Both had 97s and were being friendly and just wanted to introduce themselves before presumably becoming valued contributers to that forum.I thought it was unfortunate that they were told that they where off topic and the thread was locked. This was done politely but nevertheless it was an unwelcome start for them.I think the administrator could have been a little more flexable. As you blokes say "just my opinion"
Have a great New Year all you fella's.
I'll have to say,
my first week felt like that. I guess you need a thick skin here.
I also don't think posting conflicting views should draw an administrator to post the public e-mail and throw it out to the wolves for public reprimand. Sorry, thats just my opinion. Please don't take it the wrong way, I love this site.
I would also like to donate $ for upkeep.
PS, I'm going to change my signature now.

OB-1, I feel that the new guys were posting on the forum that they would (would've?) be spending their time on. They were just introducing themselves to us. I have a '97 F350 and the '94-'97 forum is where I go. If they said something here, I bet no one would have recieved the post or recognised them later. This is a truly great site. I was just embarrassed for them. No sweat.

In Texas we always introduce ourselves to strangers before we start talking. Thats why down here were are refered to as TEXAS FRIENDLY. Not all people up here in the US are that way. I have herd that people on the east coast are not as friendly as us here in Texas.
Got to fix this signature. Sorry guys I'll get it.

Speaking for many people on the east coast, I gotta agree. Some of us are not as friendly as we might be. Our loss.
Over in the OB-1 thread, though, I made a pitch for closing the thread and moving it, but with some better sounding verbiage. Less off-putting statements when doing the closing would address a lot of the issue here. I once counted how many members registered in a given day - you would not want that many "hellos" in the middle of the various forums, or at least I would not.
Courtesy gets full marks with me though, so Rug, if you are ever up my way, I'll do my best to show you east coast people can be normal, too.
