Paragraphs in threads

Am I missing something or does the software disallow paragraphs in threads. In several posts I have clearly used paragraphs and when I previewed it, the paragraphs disappeared, everything merged into one running post. I went back to my orginal post and the paragraphs were still there. When I entered the post no paragraphs. It is no big thing, but I wanted to know if it was me or the software. Thanks

Re: Paragraphs in threads

I think you have to enter a command to get a paragraph [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif[/img]

I've always just double spaced to make my paragraphs.

Re: Paragraphs in threads

The forums software gets rid of all redundant spaces and tabs. So if by "paragraph" you mean spaces or a tab at the beginning of the first line of the paragraph, then the software eliminates those as redundant. The software also doesn't like extra blank spaces in the middle of a sentence, so it gets rid of those too.

So to beat the system, you have to replace spaces with something else. I use periods.

........ Like this.

If you know about extended ASCII characters, and if you can determine which character set TheDieselStop editor uses, in most ASCII character sets there is an ASCII code for a blank - different than the ASCII code for a space. Alt something. So you can also key in that blank instead of a space, and it will appear to be a space. Or 5 blanks make one tab.

If you want to post a formatted table that is formatted with spaces and tabs, then you have to enclose the table in the UBB "code" command.

I have UBBCode/HTML turned off for this post, so you can see the actual code for a short table:

Code:
(paste your table here)

Re: Paragraphs in threads

If you hit the enter (return) key twice it will leave a blank line between paragraphs. First time goes to start of next line, second leaves the blank line to signify a new paragraph. I think this is what you are referring to.

Works for me.

Hope this helps out.
