The server load is much better tonight than I've seen over the past couple of days. This is especially interesting since Monday nights are by far our busiest time.
Does performance seem better for you all? Has anyone received 500 Server Errors or other major errors since about 6:00PM Eastern time tonight? I'll probably still go to a faster hard drive for the forums, but it isn't as pressing a problem as I thought it was yesterday.
If the system seems slow, are you using Netscape or IE? The new format uses nested tables .. something that Netscape is incredibly slow at processing and displaying. I'm just wondering if the slowness is mostly Netscape users? The pages are popping up really quickly for me tonight with IE 5.5. I'm a Netscape lover at heart .. been using since version 1.22, but they have just really fallen behind in features and rendering speed. I switched to IE about 6 months ago. Mozilla is pretty good, but still slow on my machines.
Its fine!
The net is a bit wierd in places but our page is fine! Thats all that matters!

I made another change just now. Most of the processor time was being used when people were searching all forums at once. With over 200,000 messages to sift through, that was eating up a lot of processor time. I disabled the ability to search all forums. It was handy, but kind of kludgy and slow anyway. We'll see if that helps a little more too.
Jason-
..reminds me...can you set the search feature so we can use check boxes for which forums for it to sift through?
Ex. search for "X"- ...but I don't need info which pertains to IDI's/6.9's/650's750's etc...but still would like to search Excursions/99+SD's/eng/drvtrn/upgr&aft/general questions...
rather than having to do either one REALLY big search...which could top out with info from 6.9's..or 4 or 5 little searches...
coud you set it up with [] check boxes for which forums to search???
I'm sure there will be some minor changes in the way the software works from the previous version. Just a note about deleting posts.
It used to drive the post down into the thread where it would be, based on the previous posts time stamp.
Now, it leaves the post at the top, even though the reply was deleted.
Just taken in the changes. Speed is fine.
As an example I just put "when is the chat going back to normal" at the top.
It may generate replies now.
FYI Jason I got one error about two hours back. Speed is humming along and in the last hour is faster on my end.
I use IE 5.5
Man get some sleep It takes time and we should all know this by now.
You take care and we do appreciate you and all that you have done over the last few years. KUDOS your way!!!
