I'm on Nutscrape (as my teenager calls it!) and it is still slower than the old board. I noticed whenever I hit the "back" button the whole dang page has to load again and it is typically 100K or more! The old software didn't do this. It was cached I guess and the new one doesn't. Any ideas why? I am on a cable modem so the bottleneck isn't here.
I DO appreciate your efforts and time, Jason. The best PSD resource around!

I tried 6.0 back before the upgrade, but frankly it was "junk" and definitely have not tried it on the new UBB. Net 6.0 didn't run anything good. Have heard the latest release is notably better, 6.01 or something like that, but I have not wanted to spend the download time to try it out. I.E. does seem to run it faster since when I hit the back button it goes immediately rather than reloading and redrawing the page. Who knows??

Netscape 6 is definitely a lot faster than Netscape 4.6 or 4.7. But man is is a memory hog. I've seen it use as much 30MB plus on my system. That 2 1/2 to 3 times what Internet Explorer uses.
Right now IE seems to be the way to go to get any decent response.
At first things were slow but now its moving at light speed. With my cable modem I really take notice if things slow down at a site and was wondering till I saw your post about the subject.
It is 7:15 PM CST. It took me 7 minutes to get to this point where I could send a note. The performance still seems to poor

I'm not sure what problem you were attempting to solve with the archiving and new ubb...
I've been using IE5.5 for a long time, and I hadn't received any server errors or noticed any particular slow-down before your change. I can report that, for me, the situation now is no better than before, maybe even a little slower. I'm on a dial-up account, typically connected at 33.6Kbps.
There's something about the fonts that's a little less pleasing too.
So, it seems like, from my desk at least, things got worse for Netscape users, and stayed the same for IE5.5ers. Maybe things are improved for earlier versions of IE or other browsers.
I'm not complaining, by the way, about your changes (except the fonts). Just thought you'd be interested in the feedback.
Best regards,

Part or the perceived performance of the forum is page loading. I looked at the HTML source of the various forums and I see you have not included image sizes in the HTML for many of the Ford-Diesel images used on the various pages. This requires the browser to go out and retrieve all of the images first before dropping in any of the text.
It is very important to include image sizes for every image in your HTML.
If you properly include image sizes in the HTML the text will drop in fast and then images will load later. This way a reader can get on with business.

Possibly the lack of image sizes in the HTML.

Performance for me now is way faster. It seems to maybe even be a combination of o.s. and brower used. On the old forum software my win 2000 and IE 5.5 were slow. It now picked up faster than it ever was previously. When I slipped in the old harddrive with win98 IE5.0 this morning it was slower. Seems the new software is optimized more for the new O.S. and Browser.
Good work Jason
