It is working for me. If you are running a firewall you will have to disable it while ruining the utilities.

Well if you can't see www.thedieselstop.com how are you posting? If you can get to the website you can ping it.
I dunno why you're getting no ping returns but you should be. Maybe some of your firewall is still up or do you have two of them...?
Nortons is my firewall and it was disabled, I ran Geektools got a trace no ping so.......I will not bother any more, so thanks for the assistance guys.

Pete, Jason may have something on his end that prevents a Ping from functioning. It has become a popular thing since denial of service attacks. Many servers on the internet no longer respond to a ping.
Pinging fddebian.thedieselstop.com [216.98.78.245] with 32 bytes of data:
Reply from 216.98.78.245: bytes=32 time=80ms TTL=47
Reply from 216.98.78.245: bytes=32 time=62ms TTL=47
Reply from 216.98.78.245: bytes=32 time=63ms TTL=47
Reply from 216.98.78.245: bytes=32 time=64ms TTL=47
Ping statistics for 216.98.78.245:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 62ms, Maximum = 80ms, Average = 67ms
This could be several things. Ping is blocked by some ISPs as this was used as a discovery tool by some of the worms like Code Red, Nimda and more recently Welchia. Also, being behind a router can interfere with ping depending on the router and software release its running on.
I wouldn't be too concerned. If you can reach the web site, you've eliminated routing as a source of difficulty. Only other value Ping would have is quantifying packet loss.
