Poll... Flat Mode or Threaded

It has been said that those who use the "flat" mode for viewing posts are in the minority. I suggest a poll to determine how many here choose flat or threaded or just plain don't care or want this thread deleted for lack of interest. Please vote. I prefer the flat mode myself.

Re: Poll... Flat Mode or Threaded

I use flat mode but I really should change to threaded. Flat mode reminds me of my x wife for some reason

on edit: all the surveys in the world aren't going to change the man's mind. He runs it as he sees fit.

Re: Poll... Flat Mode or Threaded

I could have added expand or collapse, but there is no way you could use the expand mode ! So it would not have been worth putting it in.

that certainly was a small sample 15 votes ! but it's good enough to say the majority likes flat mode right?

Re: Poll... Flat Mode or Threaded

Threaded is too confusing, just like this matrixed work environment I live in....

Big difference between showing up for work and working some place.

True, but one can also "multi-task".....

Well at least we don't have any switch hitters yet !

I'm a multi-tasker too !

I wait at home for someone to call with a problem, then try and avoid helping them if at all possible. If I'm busy reading posts, they are going to get a call back !!

Re: Poll... Flat Mode or Threaded

If this is in response to my post that traditional users use threaded view, I'd like to expand that statement a bit. By "traditional" I don't mean thedieselstop only. All BBs in general. (Anyone else do the local dialup bb, before internet?)

Same here ... the only two times I use the "threaded mode" is when I want to link to a specific post and when as a Moderator am considering deleting a post so I can see what other posts are also going to be deleted.

Re: Poll... Flat Mode or Threaded

I started out my BB experience in '96 or so (I was 15 at the time) with boards where you didn't have a choice, and had to go with threaded. I stuck with that until I discovered this site. At the time, the only choice you had on this site was what we now call Flat Mode, and it took me a couple of months to get used ot it. Now, I wo'nt go back! To me, flat mode is far easier...you have access to every post on the page (for me, 25 posts per page, but you can change that at will) without having to go back and forth. With flat mode, all you have to do is scroll up and down.

Tried the threaded mode once and didn't like it.
