Re: Questions for Gale Banks?

Jason, here's one for you -- are you going to have the chat available as an archive for those of us who are on the road at that time?

Re: Questions for Gale Banks?

I have some questions:

1. What is Banks' take on the cackle/knock problem? I think this would be the foremost question by most everyone.

2. This one might be a little dicey, but perhaps he could be questioned about the frequent complaints of poor customer support with his company.

3. Is it true that chipping a truck into higher horsepower provides more torque than the automatic transmission can handle...this is my prime reasion for shying away from a chip or kit.

Re: Questions for Gale Banks?

I see at your web site you have the coming soon for hot rod/performance.
Will you be producing these items for diesels also? Any high hp "extreme" type diesel products, twin T's etc...

Re: Questions for Gale Banks?

I own an early 99 with the older, whistling turbo.
I think it runs great.
Has the newer, larger turbo shown an increase or decrease in power potential.
Also, I would like to know what program flash update is the best for my 99.00
I am currently running the XLE5 program.
If it weren't for the Transcommand, I would be very disappointed with the tranny shifts.

Re: Questions for Gale Banks?

How about a detailed question about optimum sizes/configuration of pipe and muffler from turbo to tail pipe. There have been frequent posts that indicate bigger may not be better after a certain point. Are there different issues for stick and auto? How about chipped and stock? I know this is old ground, but things change, and there is still a lot of confusion.

Re: Questions for Gale Banks?

Why can't chip manufacturers band together and offer some type of insurance against Ford voiding the warranty simply because of installing a chip? Merely quoting the Magnusen-Moss law doesn't get it with Ford.

Re: Questions for Gale Banks?

Suggested question for Gale Banks

What is you view of the use of propane as an additive to improve performance?

Thanks,

Mark

Re: Questions for Gale Banks?

Questions:

Why, according to Banks numbers, does he make more hp/torque with the "97" PS than the new superduty PS, both with the Powerpack kit? (293.8/616.2 vs 271.0/596.9) The new ones can make considerably more boost, which I expect is from a bigger compressor - why less power?

Why does Banks provide 4" exhaust for his cummins kits and only 3 1/2" for the PS?

Re: Questions for Gale Banks?

Question: Does the factory "Cat." cause as much restriction as some seem to think?

Re: Questions for Gale Banks?

YUP, Customer service seems to be the weak link. I am a potential customer, I would buy through DIS. As a manufacturer Banks has to improve his "after the purchase" image. After what I read here, I wouldn't touch any of his pricey stuff. Time to clean house in the customer service department.

Re: Questions for Gale Banks?

Western is kinda pricey (just a tad) but their (Mark Craig's) handling of customers makes up for it tenfold!
