"Quick Post"

How do I get rid of this quick post feature? I find it
very irritating and needlessly takes up what screen space
I have. Please tell me that there's a way to turn off this
"improvement"?

Re: "Quick Post"

Sparkydm,

It doesnt' look like it can be.

Only screen space it takes up is at the bottom.

Why don't you use this feature?

It is something most of the forums I have seen latley are going to.

Re: "Quick Post"

I would find an empty screen to be a waist, Some people just don't like change.

For what it's worth, I just tried the quick reply, and it didn't work. Said something about post/form has expired. ???

Why so spastic sparky? I don't understand that it takes up screen space, just scroll to the last post and stop, it's the same as it ever was.
Also, why in the world would you complain about a feature that makes it easier to reply. It saves you a click, that's good.

Re: "Quick Post"

You can also just hit the "end" button on your keyboard...that will take you to the bottom of the page so you dont have to scroll.

Re: "Quick Post"

Sounds like an attorney. Man don't let it get to you. there really isn't anything below the quick reply box that you need to concern yourself with anyway. There's nothing down there. just don't look at it!

Set your thread view to like 50 long then most threads will just fit on one page and you won't need the next page buttons.

Your internet explorer window is no bigger than it was before. I don't understand what valuable screen space you are losing.

No graemlins?

No problem.

I used the "quick reply", so graemlins take only a tiny bit of "programming" using UBB Code. Of course, you have to remember the code.

Re: "Quick Post"

There should be a hack that adds a "use graemlins" link to the "options" to the left of the "quick reply" box. There was for older versions of ubb.threads.

Re: "Quick Post"

"Why so spastic sparky?"
Now, that's an intersting term? I, like most, read way more
posts than I reply to. I also might go to the bottom of the
screen. What good does it do to "save" a click with the quick reply
when it adds a click to many more than it saves and doesn't
have the same features? Just because "everyone" is doing it or
saves a phantom click doesn't make it a good feature for all.
It doesn't appear that I'm the "spastic" one here. It was
a solution to a problem that never did exist. And it gives you fewer
options so why bother? Now I have to click past this persistent
dead space on my screen that has no use for me there. I just wanted
to know if it could be eliminated? If you don't agree, great, save the
name calling, grow up. I haven't heard yet if it can be blocked out.
Does someone actually attached to the board have an answer?

by the time you did all that its no longer a "quick" reply, you might as well have used the regular reply button and instant graemlins.

Re: "Quick Post"

It would be great if there were an option to check to the left of Quick Reply for "Add thread to my favorites" like there is on the general reply. That way I can use quick reply but don't have to go back to the post and then click Favorite Topic!(toggle) each time to subscribe to the thread. I wonder if there's a way to add that? Just a checkbox below "preview reply" to the left of the quick reply box.

I tried it a couple of times and got an error when I hit "continue", so I have not used it since.
