Why is it that the Official Ford-Diesel Rally can have little blurb posts run in each forum? Yet when other rallies held last year attempted the same they were shut down and moved to the rally forum with the following paraphrased but near quoted "If people want to attend a rally they will go to the events and rallys forum"
I believe the same should either hold true for this rally or be allowed to be done for all of the rallies.

Smokey,
As one of the organizers of the Northeast Rally and a supporter of this web site, I for one would like to see fairness and one set of rules for all here.
Please don't tell me this is Jasons house and what he says goes because he did'nt ask you to do any of this and it appears you are making policy. I'm not complaining and I'm not blaming the site for "all my problems"
I can see where Keith is coming from, its like a slap in the face.
I spent money and tons of time for the good of this site (I thought) by helping with a Rally for the members here. You stepped in on occasion to stop and move many of our topics on your own. I never complained even though I had my own money "hanging out to dry" in the form of huge phone bills, trips to Rally site (2 hrs. away from my house) and deposits. Luckily it all worked out in the end This effort was all for the good of this site and received nothing other than the fun I had meeting the other folks consumed with a Ford diesel pick-up truck, like me Remember, this site is a Company now and I'm non profit.
Point is, this site needs one set of rules.
You made it so he had to defend your action today and I think that may put him in an awkward position. I'm sure he agrees with you, now. I joined Jason Lestors, Ford-Diesel.com site not Smokey Wrens Empire. (I would join your site also, I do respect your opinion)
Smokey put it in words much better than I could have. This is the official rally and we want as many people as possible to attend. If all the small rallies also posted in the other forums, it would quickly become cluttered.
Things should be applied a little more fair across the board.
It'll hardly clutter up space.
Want to keep clutter down?? Lock or consolidate all duplicate threads, and move this forum back to the bottom of the page where folks are less likely to misspost in it

My job as one of Jason's elves is to save him time. Do things he would do if only he didn't have a day job and a family and a life.
There are lots of local and regional rallies, including Sid's Texoma rally and Keith's Northeast rally. The organizers and operators of those rallys work their tail off and spend an enormous number of hours getting it done so the freeloaders like me can just show up and have a good time.
But those are local and regional rallies. Some of them are semi-official Ford-Diesel.com events - a couple of Jason's elves showed up at Texoma and Keith himself was a major player at Northeast, and I think Jason even attended at least one of the East Coast rallies lst year.
The KTP rally is different. It's not local or regional. It's the one big official rally with Jason's name on it. It's at a special place that any fan of Ford-Diesel.com would like to visit. I expect folks from most of the 50 states and several provinces of Canada to show up. It's probably not going to be an annual event. There will be several hundred folks show up, instead of the several dozen folks at most other rallys. In other words, it's the Daddy Rabbit of all Ford-Diesel rallies.
There are lots of newbees on the site, and many probably haven't even found the rally forum yet. There are lots of other folks that don't read the rally forum because they aren't interested in attending a local or regional rally. So to be sure everyone knows about the KTP rally in time to make plans to attend, I've been posting a thread in each of the technical forums. Then immediately closing them so there would be no discussion of the rally in the forums where it would be off topic. And weekly or so bumping the thrread to the top of the forum.
Would I do that for "my" Texoma rally? No. Do I think Keith should do that for his Northeast rally or for other local or regional rallys? No. Did I ask Jason if it was O.K. to do that for the KTP rally? No. I just applied Darling Wife's bumper sticker that asks "WWJD?"
Looks like I guessed right.

Now I have heard it all Smokey. <BLOCKQUOTE><font size="1" face="Verdana, Arial">quote:</font><HR>

Again since I am willing to do the same it is My point exactly!

Do not all of these rallies support this site and support the vendors and manufacturers that are associated with it. Most of those we had in the NE actually advertised and currently advertise with Ford Diesel.com. So to say this is Semi Ford-Diesel.com is really a little bit of a slap in the face.

They all happen at different times so how much clutter do you think you are going to have?

Nah, I don't believe in myths and superstition and supernatural beings and spirits. But Darling Wife is a gin-u-wine Mormon - LDS - Salt Lake City variety. But I thought her WWJD bumper sticker was only to remind me to always think what would Jason do before I move a post or fuss at a member. You think it might have something to do with scripture?
