Richter's Tranny Build Thread

It was moved because it says it was 'not 7.3l engine specific', yet the 4R100 tranny was ONLY used by the 7.9 power stroke, right?

So why move it?

Just wondering, not trying to complain, I just don't want the thread to die.

Re: Richter's Tranny Build Thread

I didn't move that thread, but did a little looking around...

First off,

I have found nothing in the ordering guides to distinguish the 4spd auto used with the V10 from the one used with the 7.3L PSD. Are you trying to say that the V10 uses the E4OD?? I personally don't know, but I would find that hard to believe. If the V10 uses the 4r100 tranny, then the thread is currently in the correct forum.

Secondly,

You all need to stop expending so much energy worrying and complaining about which forum a particular thread gets moved to. The thread is still active and available for viewing. There is no reason to get so upset. Just because it isn't where you think it should be, doesn't mean it isn't in the appropriate forum. Just relax and enjoy the reading and if you are afraid you will lose the thread, add it to your favorites, then you can find it easily, regardless of where it is.

Then to be consistent every single 4R100 tranny question should be in the General Aftermarket forum I always thought the direction was to post in the most appropriate forum. I don't know where it was originally posted, but IMVHO it would have been on topic in either the 94-97 E&D or even the 94-97 U&A or the 99+ 7.3L E&D or 99+ 7.3L U&A and would have been at the poster's option where to post it.

Also, if it applies to the Gasser's it's appropriate in the 7.3L E&D forum which clearly states ...

[ QUOTE ]
Discussion of the 7.3L Power Stroke diesel engine and drivetrain in the 1999-Up Super Duty trucks and Excursions. No gas engine discussion allowed except on transmissions and drivetrain that pertain to all models. Please confine discussion of topics in this forum to those items that are specific to the 7.3L Power Stroke engine.

[/ QUOTE ]

Soooooo tranny subjects that apply also to the gassers can be posted in that forum.

IMHO, think you're missing the point especially when you use the search feature. If I was looking for a tranny type post for my PSD I would only look in the 99+ 7.3L or 7.3L U&A or maybe the same in the 94-97 forums since you can only search a single forum at a time. I just think having that thread buried in the U&A forum is a mistake

on edit: What you quoted is from the 7.3 E&D forum, which would not have been appropriate anyway, since he is doing an upgrade, using parts that are not stock. As you know, upgrades are to be in the U&A forum. The 7.3 U&A forum states: Upgrading and adding aftermarket equipment to your 1999-Up Super Duty or Excursion with 7.3L Power Stroke diesel engine. Please confine discussion of topics in this forum to those items that are specific to the 7.3L Power Stroke engine. Nothing in there mentions gas engine discussions period.

Larry,

I am afraid you missed my point. There have been too many threads going on and on about posts being moved. Some have gotten extremely heated and one poster go so mad he went on a tirade and ended up banned for some things he did as a result..... The fact is, none of this is worth going so far off about. The thread is appropriate where it is (the definition for that one says: "Upgrading and adding aftermarket equipment to your 1999-Up Super Duty. Please confine discussion of topics in this forum to those items that are not engine-specific." and clearly, the tranny is not engine specific) and is getting plenty of looks there. As I stated before, I didn't move it there, but I see no reason to move it back either....
