Re: The roll of the Moderator

Michigan Horsepuller,
It all depends on what you mean by "Fun" As a horse puller it might be pulling hairs out of your horses tails and seeing them jump when you did it, but the horse might have quite a different view of things. There are a lot of people out there who are all too ready to have fun at somebody elses expense and discomfort. It's like ethnic jokes. Fine if you don't happen to be of that ethnic group. Then even though you find it offensive you are supposed to laugh.

I can hear it now "Come on Fred lighten up"

Well I'm quite light hearted actually, but when I see and hear nasty things I tend to identify them as such. It's the only way to stop them. The other way perpetuates them. There were Germans who thought smashing the shop windows of Jewish businesses was trumendous fun and there are countless cases of malicious actions that the perpetrators thought was fun. But it didn't make it right because it was fun. If you are asking me to put my head in the sand, sorry!

Frederick

Re: The roll of the Moderator

Now who could it be around here that would lobby to prevent any discussion of themes he does not agree with?

Would he then dare cry censorship if his own ox were gored?

I wonder.

Re: The roll of the Moderator

This site is for Ford trucks.....right,
some have let this forum go to their heads.

I've had a post or two moved and some real questions not answered. Yet I see on the '97 forum CPS questions every day and moderators join in with the *in* crowd.

Sounds like a few Condo comandos out there.

Re: The roll of the Moderator

What can I add to all this. I know the proper spelling for "roll" as used in this thread is
"r o l e".
I am not taking this seriously.

Re: The roll of the Moderator

I like how Ford Diesel is run.

I consider my use of the site to be totally conditional on the operators whims.

I consider the site to be the private property of the owner, and to be operated however he wants.

I do not feel that I have the "right" to participate, much less read the content if this site. It is a privledge.

The owner and his administrators can do what they want and there is not a thing wrong with that, and I can't... I'm a user, and one that has not donated yet.

I appreciate what I get for free here, and personally I think they should start making parts of the system for paid members only. I think this site is that good of a resource.

anyway, if that makes any sense, it's my 2 cents.

Patrick,

We all had better take this seriously. fyoung is doing his darndest to impose his sense of propriety and values on all 5000 members of this site. It almost happened just one week ago.

Mike,

Jason has not allowed me to crawl around inside this thought processes, and he doesn't confide in me, but I'll bet you a dollar to a donut that Frederick had only an itty bity tiny bit, if any, influence on Jason's decision to tighten up the Other forum.

Re: The roll of the Moderator

fyoung,

You seem to be a very critical person, you seem to not want people to have fun, did you have a bad childhood?

I think you need to lighten up, seems each time I read something you wrote you are being critical of this website or the people that run it. It is getting old.

Re: The roll of the Moderator

Smokey,

You're probably right about that, Jason has said he had several (a lot? memory fades) complaints. Buuuut, since the new rules went into effect, only one person has repeatedly posted demands that guns and politics be banned. I know I probably shouldn't have made the post pointing a finger at fyoung. But darn, somebodys got to say something or this thing becomes one sided and it looks like no one cares.

I really like the new rules. They keep things organized and the 2 - 4 threads don't take over the forum. I don't want to lose that, so I responded.

Mike

You forgot to mention critical of the everyday Joe that posts something.

Re: The roll of the Moderator

Well, here is Jthorpe again and yes, I have an opinion on this whole thing. Please don't take this as being critical, although, I guess that is what I am at this moment.

fyoung - I learned very quickly not to respond to your posts because you will start an argument, or debate, then when you're losing or don't feel like it's going your way, you just drop out, not finishing what YOU started. All I can say is that you must be very bored.

Smokeywren - I don't dislike you. It's just that you seem to take this moderator thing to a new level. I see a lot of padlocks coming from you and I feel like you have let it get to your head a little bit. It's like you are trying to control what people are saying. I especially like it when you start a topic, then tell people to have at it and not to open another topic like it. Hmmm, I find that a little controlling. Just let these guys go a little bit, I feel like a dog on a leash in the other forum now. And one thing you shouldn't do is close a topic and then bash the last one or two people who posted in it. You know how I feel about that. I would normally not post this publicly but you didn't respond to my last email so what choice do I have?

All in all, I think many people take this place too seriously. I have been on here a lot lately because I have been working nights. When I go back to days, I won't be around as much. (im sure many of you are glad). I love this site. I feel like there is way too much control on the forums though. Maybe we should all just throttle back a bit, go outside and build a piece of furniture or something instead of sitting around the darn computer so much. Me included. Excuse me while I pay $90.00 for a tank of fuel.

Jack

There's a lot of truth in that.

Re: The roll of the Moderator

I sense that tensions are rapidly rising here, there was a post a month or two ago about someone who was stirring the pot and people were real upset with this kid. I never had time to follow the posts but the general consensus was that everyone wanted this person booted off the site.

I am not a gun person, but I have learned a lot from reading those threads regarding guns, politics etc........the arguments that go on in thoses posts have a different feel than what is going on here.......this seems to be sour...for lack of a better word, one person is stirring everyones pot and probably laughing at us all right now........

Should fyoung be booted from this site in order to bring order back??

It might get rid of that sour taste, and I can then enjoy reading about guns guns and more guns!!

Re: The roll of the Moderator

I would hate to see anyone booted from the site. It is the diverseness of our membership that makes the site and keeps things interesting for all of us. I only wish that we could all agree to disagree and continue on.

Re: The roll of the Moderator

Mike,

That is a very good point you make, that we all agree to disagree!

I usually don't post too much, I prefer to read what is going on, but this guy is getting under my skin, I feel that he is trying to upset things on purpose, just my opinion, I could be wrong though.
