I can't really add anything as far as your question, since it's basically Jason's call...
But, I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed the photos of "your boys"... Not only are they cuter than heck, but the quality of the photography is some of the best I have ever seen !!!
I hope you check back on this thread and let us know what type of camera/resolution/etc. you used for those great shots...
Thanks in advance...
Thanks for all your comments. The "boys" and I appreciate the support.
I do a lot of photography on the side as a hobby and as a home business. I especially enjoy pet photography. I volunteer at the local Humane Society and take pictures of adoptable pets for their website.
As for equipment, some of the photos were taken with my Nikon F4 while others were taken with my Olympus Stylus Epic (a non-zoom point and shoot with an excellent 35mm f/2.8 lens). The slide or negative was then scanned into my Mac with a Nikon LS-2000 film scanner (which I sold on E-bay; but I just bought the newer Nikon LS-4000). Film scanners are the key to good digital photos. All the photos are at 72 dpi (screen resolution). I did not use too much jpeg compression so the pictures look a little better than your average internet picture (at the expense of size...if you are using a modem, the pictures take a while to download). On my truck site, most of the photos were taken with my Canon Powershot A50 digital camera.
But if you are serious about photography, then you will quickly learn that expensive equipment is worhtless without good techniques and a good eye. I've taken some excellent pictures with my $90 Olympus which cannot be distinguished (easily) from photos taken with a $1,000 Nikon F4 and a $1,000 lens. I see lots of people on vacation lugging around 35mm SLR cameras and snapping away lots of pictures without thinking or composing. They think a bigger more expensive camera will take better pictures. Wrong. They will just have better quality photos of junk. There are tons of excellent point and shoots out there with great lenses (avoid the big zooms). And with minimal instruction, they can take great pictures.
Well, you guys got me started. Sorry. I can talk for hours about photography (I've put many brave souls to sleep talking about f-stops and film). If you have any specific questions or comments or suggestions then please feel free to contact me via e-mail or we can continue this post in the "Other" forum.
p.s. I am working on another website which will feature more of my photography and I'll post the link once it's done.
Thanks again!

Thanks for the response about your photography. One of the things I noticed was your composure. I wondered if you were a professional photographer. Again, well done.
I could tell you knew what you were doing with composure, angles, etc.
I was just hoping that if I could get a hold of the same equipment, I could try to take photos at least half as well...
