For sale section question

There is a sticky saying that bumping ads to the top will result in your ad being deleted.
http://forums.thedieselstop.com/ubbthrea...;gonew=1#UNREAD

My question is how many pages back does an ad have to go before the site deems it ok to put your ad back to the top? An ad could only be a day or two old but be three pages out.
Would you rather have someone start an entirely new post instead of putting their ad back to the top? Or do you get only one chance to sell your stuff?

Thanks

Re: For sale section question

I would think that someone looking to buy would look through all the pages. Ads expire in 14 days, so it is not like they will eventually be many pages back. It is also unfair to those who are not constantly bumping their own ads.

Believe me, those looking will look ALL the way through, daily.

Re: For sale section question

It seems that their are a great deal of people out their, that will post adds both for sale and wanted and will have a number of replies and never post a reply back at all. I just don't get why you would bother posting an add if you were not actual looking to buy or sell something? Any thoughts? Just seems like a waste?

[/ QUOTE ]Just a guess, but they probably posted it for sale on other forums, newspapers etc.If it gets sold using that other forum, they don't go back & have the courtesy of removing the add or saying it's been sold.

Re: For sale section question

That may be the case with some of them but I have seen replies within days or even hours that go unanswered for weeks? What gives?

That would have to do with the poster, I have used the classifieds section here and check daily when I have listings that are active. It does make you wonder why someone would advertise and not check to see if someone wants to buy what they have.

Kind of makes you want to go "HMMMMMMMM"

Re: For sale section question

It just seems like a waist of time to reply to one and never get an answer back, just a little frustrating I guess to me anyway. Even if they had sold or found what they were looking for have a little courtesy and let them know or remove the ad?

Anyone besides me ever think that maybe some people might do their deals using PMs instead of in the public eye?
