Search feature...

Is there any reason the search feature would only allow me to make one search and then say this "You cannot make another search at this time. Please try again in a few minutes."???????????

Re: Search feature...

The timeout is set to 60 seconds. Searching is very resource intensive. Someone rapidly searching can bring a site with this many messages down to a crawl.

Yeah! Now none of my searches has been successful since this change. It has been bad enough with the last change. I wish they would go back to the old search feature in each forum. I understand trying to make thinks better for us all but this one has been a disappointment to me since day 1.....

Re: Search feature...

I have found that if you change the search options, you don't have to wait.. For example if you search request is set for 1 year, simply change it to 12 months and presto it works. So just keep changing the time frame to continue searching without waiting...

Jason,
I wouldn't have to do this if the search query didn't timeout whenever I hit the "back" icon on my browser. For example, I perform a search. The query brings up 15 matching items. I click on the first one to view, then click the "back" icon on my browser so I could view the other matches to my search and wham! Timeout The only thing this creates is more searches

Re: Search feature...

Don't use the back button, use the link provided on the page titled "Search Results".

Re: Search feature...

Jason,

Is there anyway possible to make it when you do a search that you don't see the RE:s for a thread as results?

This makes searching incredibly tiring.

When I am searching for something I burn up my mouse wheel going past all the RE:s to find what I need.

At that point I get burnt out on it.

I have found the best way to search this site is with Alta Vista or Google lol.

Re: Search feature...

I love the site, but the search feature here was always among the worst of all the sites I frequent. Now it is hands down the worst.
