Works fine for me - need to give the search time to go through the extensive files if you are in the archives.

Re: Search forums not working??

You'll have to give us more information than "I'm having problems". It works fine as far as I can tell.

Re: Search forums not working??

Hi
When I use the search feature I am able to read only one search result. Trying to use the "back" button gives me an error message. I then have to restart the search to read the next result. Also since the upgrade this bb is still much slower than previously. I'm not on a dial up
Not complaning.. you wanted details.

Re: Search forums not working??

I've been able to search fine.

Halo's problem could be browser/cache-related. After you have done your search and have a list of hits, try holding the SHIFT key when you click on one of the links. This will open a new browser window. Read the post, then exit that browser window. Your original browser window will have the list of hits. This may or may not working depending upon which browser you are using, but it might be worth a try.

Also, just another thought: some folks were saying the search function didn't work because they were getting zero hits on pretty common terms. This happened a few weeks ago around the time Jason archived the big forums. So that was probably a result of searching the relatively empty new forums. You'll need to search the archives instead until the new forums get populated.

One last thing, it is always better to search within a particular forum, not "all forums," which is very slow and often hangs the computer.

Not sure if this solves your problems, but it might solve somebody elses!

Re: Search forums not working??

mjstef:

I just did a search using your member number. Everything seemed to work fine.

What browser are you using? Netscape doesn't work well at all with this new version of UBB. I was using Netscape, changed to IE 5.0 which worked fairly well, then upgraded to IE 5.5 which works great.

Re: Search forums not working??

Jason/Mike:

Go to home page:
http://www.ford-diesel.com/ - Works Okay

Click on homepage search link -- it takes you here http://www.ford-diesel.com/htdig/index.php3

now click on search forums target:
tries to find this link,
http://www.ford-diesel.com/cgi-bin/s...i?action=intro

but says "HTTP 404 - File not found"

Looks like the search forum link is bad:

looks like it should be this instead of whats listed above.
http://forums.ford-diesel.com/cgi-bi...cgi?ubb=search

Re: Search forums not working??

mjstef:

Try going to the forum page first:

http://forums.ford-diesel.com/cgi-bi...ultimatebb.cgi

and then click on the search target there.

That seems to work.

Re: Search forums not working??

Aa Hah!

Something definately amiss. Until Jason fixes the bad link, just use the search feature found at the top of each forums page. It works.
