search options

Maybe I am not setting my preferences right but trying to search for anything is a real pain. If I am doing something wrong then let me know please so I can correct it. If not then I have a suggestion. How about some more options when trying to do a search?? How about searching for things by username, or searching for key words that are in the topic/subject or within the body of the post. If I search for sled pull I get posts that discuss which lift is best just because one of the replys stated he competed in sled pulls. There was nothig else within the thread that mentioned sled pulls. If I could search topics or subjects then I could pinpoint which conversations talk specifically about sled pulling. Or maybe I want to hear what a certain member has to say about sled pulling. If I had the username search option then I could do that too. Please take this as a suggestion and NOT a complaint. This site is very well respected and I am just trying to make it a better one.

Thanks for the time!

Chad

Re: search options

Chad there is nothing Jason can do about it. It is the way that the INFOPOP program that he uses for the board works at this time. Maybe the next update will change this problem for the better. Most everyone agrees that the search option is a big PITA. Before the last program update we could use a members name or number and the other parameters for searching were better to.

Hope this helps some. - - Ed

Re: search options

Display name is a search option. It's in the "search options" box. Last one listed there.

Re: search options

I understand that but if I search for your username I get 600+ results. Major PITA! If I could search for your username AND "search options" I would get one result and would be MUCH easier. Thanks for teh info.

Re: search options

The next version of the software we run has a much better search routine. It's in beta testing now and should be out in the next few weeks.

You can see a sample of the beta here:

New Search Interface

As you can see, there are lots more options available.
