search suggestion

Would it be possble to add an option to allow the search engine on this site to search and give results as threads or as posts. As you are well aware if you search for a topic especially one that is in the subject lines you will get every post on that subject showing up which can be many pages long if it was a detailed or extensive thread.

I believe this addition would make myself and other users be more inclined to use the search function reducing the number of duplicate threads.

Re: search suggestion

Search sucks on this site. Suggestions never get taken seriously. Many people have complained about it but it won't change.

Re: search suggestion

I think I've explained before that this is a commercial software package. I pass on suggestions to the company, but that doesn't mean they will make it into the next release. Search is a high priority for them in the next couple of versions though.

Re: search suggestion

I just tried your search. I selected the "Upgrades & Aftermarket - General forum". I entered "Bridgestone Dueler", selected "in subject and in body", selected "newer than 6 months".

I got back a whole boatload of hits. Some even had the name in the thread title. Others had the hit within the message body.

Re: search suggestion

Neal_P,

Take a look at (Advanced search tips) next to "Keyword search terms" in the Search section. A lot of times a thread can go off topic and cover your interest well and vice versa.

Give the link below a read as well. It's a big help.
