Selling stuff

Why can't you sell "non-truck" stuff?

The guy who started this website was a Ford diesel pickup owner and enthusiast. He wanted a website where others with similar interests in Ford diesel pickups could gather and shoot the bull about their trucks. He didn't want to clutter up the website with stuff that wasn't related to Ford diesel pickups. But the members convinced him that he should have a forum for diesel-powered vans and medium-duty trucks, as well as a forum for "general diesel" where other brands of diesel engines could be discussed. Then he added a "for sale" section where you could sell your Ford diesel pickup, or parts for Ford diesel pickups. Finally he reluctantly added a forum for Ford Superduty pickups with gasoline engines. And when the Excursion diesel-powered station wagon came out, he added a forum for that. So he was still sticking to his guns by making the website primarily for Ford diesel-powered light trucks. In fact, until some time in 2001, the name of the website was Ford-Diesel.com.

Last fall that guy sold the website to a commercial outfit - AutoForums.com. The new owners decided to continue with the basic policies that had made this website so successful.

So if you want to sell something for a Ford diesel pickup, you came to the right place. For other items, there are lots of other websites that will be glad to list your stuff.

Ok, that is a nice answer but yet fails to answer my question.

What about the people on here that ride, race, hunt, fish, etc? Why do they not have the ability to post items up for sale in that manner? What would it hurt is what I am asking? Why limit it? Why not have a section for "stuff" within limits mind you; just seems childish to harbor the sale of only Ford diesel stuff.

Was not really about selling my stuff or your stuff or any stuff, just noticed there was no place if I wanted "TO" post something I had for sale.

Smokey gave a little more detail, but what it boils down to is because that's the way the owner of the site wants it.

Think of it this way. If the owner of a house you're visiting wants you to take off your shoes, you take off your shoes. House Rules. Simple enough.

It could be different, but it isn't. The limits are "It has to be Ford Diesel related".
