Add me to the "whiners" list. TDS has been taken over by advertising. I can't help but wonder if it's really become necessary, but then again, it's not my site.

But from here on I'll choose to spend my time elswehere.

Where you PAY $50 a month to not get adds. It's a commercial site, they have to pay the bills and pay Jason's mortgage off. Where do you all think this money comes from? Uh-Duh...... the adds.

It's a business get over it all of you!

most of the informative diesel sites don't make us pay for anything...and the sponsors are truly diesel related. Tater

It's flashier and slower but it has educated me on many things over the past few. It also gets me answers that are unique to the subject. Having a 7.3 that I expect to own until I die, I expect this site to help get me there with spares & repairs and excellent technical instruction to boot. I suppose if you stop to read every ad it could get to you but we still have a choice. Whiners are pretty easy to ignore too. That is why many of us are divorced.

Thumbs down

I liked the older site too. I have visited a lot less since they have changed it. I didn't mind the ads on the old site. At least they were relevant and real sponsors who had an interest in the site. I was also getting ready to become a paid member, but then TDS sold out, I'm not giving them my money now because it appears that is all they are after. Now anybody who has the word "truck" or "diesel" in their ad gets on here. The old site had a personal feeling to it. Now I looks like every other forum out there.

P.S. Now they are putting ads in our stickies!
This is a sticky in the "7.3L Power Stroke Engine and Drivetrain"....

Read the last line.

Why in the world was my link to the ad that is in the stickies "off topic"?
It was about the web site and what I didn't like.

it appeared to be an ad for those tires because it was not in line with the topic..

I think it was very much on topic. The topic was about all the ads that are on the site, and I was pointing out another spot that they are sneaking ads in.
The link was to show how and where they were putting them.

Bill,
A few months ago I was bored and spent some time going through the member list, at that time there was almost 60,000 members who had never made a post.

Yep, I agree, I do not come here nearly as often as before, found a new place to hang out,,,,,

Right now these are the numbers,,

» Online Users: 1,290 290 members and 1,000 guests

I would be a TON of money that 7-800 of the 1,000 guests are "Bots" and not real people,, I suppose TDS LOVES this, it would just drive up the advertising dollar cost they can charge..

Bunch of BS if you ask me, not representative of the users at all really now.
