I hope when Jason sold the TDS, he made the money to do so.

When I first got my truck and started coming here in 2006 this place was the place to be for Ford Diesels... now i don't think so anymore. It seems like all the post just keep repeating nothing new comes up here.

As for the speed this place was FAST b4 the change over now its slow even on my T1 here at work. And the ads back then where for diesel products and mostly FORD diesel products. but come on now as i type this there is an ad for "Ped Egg" "For Smooth Beautiful Feet" right above this box lol... This just isn't right.

I know a few forums that have caved to the corporate $$$$. The secret is out, home grown forums attract and retain a lot of people. Any place you attract a lot of people with similar interest, some corporate entity sees $$$$$'s and it's only a matter of time.

As for the speed, I have 15Mb/2Mb fiber service on an old slow PC. Firefox saves me. Block out the ad's and other crap and it's not bad. But even with DL speeds in the 11mb to 15MB measured range, this site, although not really slow to me, is not in the upper end of performance compared to similar forums; but not bad.

AMEN ACTION 448!

I've been here for sometime before, but got another truck, and re-joined. I've noticed the amount of knowledgable mechanics dwindle down to a very small amount. If it's a forum to just talk about how much you love your truck, then good for you. I joined to share my knowledge as a mechanic (because that's what I am), and I expect people to do the same.

For one reason or another, I consistantly ask questions that I don't view to be all that complex; yet get little to no response on the answer side....a million people will look at the question, but no one will answer. This leads me to believe that the forum is filled mostly with opinionated old men, or kids- neither of which has first hand knowledge on techinical topics

Most of us who have been on this site since the beginning ('99 for me), don't post here anymore. This site is horrible now and I spend my time sharing information elsewhere.

I think I have 4 posts over here in the last 6 months...

I guess you could call this a facelift - but man, sue the doctor.

It ranks right up there with these...

i sure do miss the old yellow dieselstop.com and have noticed that a lot of the more prominent members have disappeared, and the new members seem prety clueless. it was a much better site a few years ago when i joined, im totally down for breaking off and starting a new diesel forum.

I noticed that too. A lot of on-post-wonders and people who don't look before posting.

I for one am very disappointed in this site. It used to be THE place for performance information. Look back through the archives. Read what went on finding out how to modify the injectors. Golfer, Bean, SwapDonkey, Thuglike, ShayB, Gregrob, and others did a lot of interesting research on parts to find what worked. Golfer went as far as to mount a belt driven, variable displacement pump instead of the stock HPOP. It didn't work as well as planned which is why you don't see it being done today. And do a google search about IDM research being done to make the 7.3L turn 4K-5K RPM WITHOUT cutting out any fuel. How does 800HP sounds on STOCK forged rods? That's what the research is looking towards.
I challenge each person who reads this to post to read through some of the old archives (circa 1997-2000) and then do a Google search for some of the more technically savvy user-names. Read what those people are doing now. I know you'll find it interesting.

This sight has also lost contact with the human side. Folks need sympathy and encouragement sometimes. It may sound stupid, but all of us are human. Deleting posts which relate a death in the family or hardship only serves to hurt the people who made this site what it was.

Unfortunately this site has fallen victim to big $$$$$ TDS tech sections have been severely over crowded with young members asking the same questions.... should I stack Banks chips, should I get propane, should I get a throttle body spacer on my 7.3. and they get answered by the same people that say oo yeah.... stacking chips is the shizzle yo. The old members that actually know what they are doing in the PSD world have moved. This place is almost entirely controlled by the big money adds... and it even bleed down into uneducated members posts about ads they seen here or in diesel mags, to be true. TDS is NO LONGER a diesel community. It has since been turned into a money making site. The mods and administrators have simply become only caring of trucks only, your username, or real name for that matter is just a # to them. Welcome to prison...

So, If you want to know where you can get superior and legit PSD advice, and a good hangout for us PSD people, please PM me. MODS are welcome to PM me as well, and you do not have to pay for ANY features.

There is nothing about this post that breaks the rules, so don't play that card on me.

I like this site. I spend hours reading tech articles and going through old stuff. I don't have any success with my searches of articles I know I've read. I have noticed more ads. I don't mind them either. I'll even go to some of their sites. However, while viewing, I noticed an ad for a site that I personally know is one of the dirtiest dealing no good running businesses around. I'm very dissapointed to see them as a sponsor and would hate to have any of the nice folks around hear get taken by them also. I don't know if I would be aloud to mention how they are? When I posted about them and the problems they caused my post was removed.

Agreed. Today I was told by Administrator that there is nothing wrong with the speed of the site and if I think its due to the ads then I should give them my money for a membership and that will get rid of the ads. I expected that response when I saw the membership option. I will be using the classifieds ad to sell off some parts I have and that will be about it. This site will die a slow death (its half dead already!).
