Signature legnth

Can the legnth of the signature be limited to only two lines. I've noticed that one reason for the long downloads even on shorter threads is the signature is several times larger than the note itself. When two or three guys go at it and they have long signatures it really makes download times stretch out. Well this is just my statistically unverified observation but who would read a 10 or 12 line long signature. Not me.
