Site Etiquette Question

I many times ask questions on this site. I have gotten so much help here on a variety of issues. My question is this. If you post a question and you get the answer you are looking for from a helpful member, should you reply to the answer with a "Thanks for the help" or something similar or should you not reply. The reason I ask this is that sometimes you may ask a question, it is answered quickly, so it only gets one reply, and moves down quickly in the posts, then you come along read the answer maybe hours or days later and post "thanks" which runs it back to the top and a new post shows up on everyones list, which of course they will have no interest in at all. I could of course PM every member and thank them also. I was just wondering what others thought should be the right way to do this, because I want to thank folks who help me.

Re: Site Etiquette Question

Thank them in advance? Use you'r opinion on if the thread is too far down to bring it back to the top,and PM in this instance. Visit the site more often! If I'm on line the STOP is up. Good luck
My2 cents.

Re: Site Etiquette Question

I never do mind when I help somebody and they bump the thread back to the top and it doesn't bother me if they don't. I know that most on here do appreciate the help.
One thing that I would like to see happen is when you have a problem to post back when you get it fixed just so that we can add to our knowlege since there are usually quite a few post about what to do to correct their problem.

Re: Site Etiquette Question

Thanking someone is always good manors.
Openly is even better manors.
If you choose not to do it openly you could always do it via a PM.

I thought manors was a place where people like the administrators here lived? Is what you refer to actually manners?

Some people are like slinkies, Not really good for anything, but they still bring a smile to your face when you push them down a flight of stairs!
