I am on dial up so I don't expect a lot but it is really slow still even for me. Started Friday night I think, around 11:00 I tried to log on and kept getting the "website not responding" message. This is what I got just now.

Here is what I have noticed, when I click on a post it goes there just fine but when I go down to the bottom and click on next it is taking about 11 seconds which is longer than usual.
This is the time to get to Larry's reply...

Re: Slooowww

Birdman when you are going to go to another thread in the same forum use your back button. that takes you back to where you were on the menu for that forum and for me that is much faster than using the next button. When I leave a forum to look at another I click on the Index button and it zeros out the red indicators that I have read in that particular forum so when I come back to it I can see if there is any new posts to a thread that I am following. Index is slower though.

Hope this helps a little and good luck Bro.

Re: Slooowww

Heds, thanks for the help. I do use the back button to go look at another thread but when I have looked at all that interest me on a page and then go down to the bottom and click on next, for the next page of threads, that is where it gets slow. This usually takes a little longer than going to a thread but not 11 seconds.

From this page of posts when I went to the bottom and clicked on next I went to the next thread here and got

Generated in 0.134 seconds in which 0.093 seconds were spent on a total of 14 queries. Zlib compression disabled.

And then when I clicked on previous to return here I got

Generated in 0.267 seconds in which 0.157 seconds were spent on a total of 14 queries. Zlib compression disabled.

Re: Slooowww

To me that is normal because the site has to reload everything again like going into the forum for the first time. After that your speed should be back to where it is until you change forums or pages. Yeah I notice that to. It just takes a few to load a new page or forum. Re: Slooowww

You may always get an occasional slow page. It's the site overall that I'm concerned about. If someone is searching an entire forum for example, there's nothing I can do to speed things up. If you try to load a page while that search is going on, it will be slower than normal.

Jason,

It has been many months since the site ran this fast. Whatever you did is working.

Re: Slooowww

I found another query that was really taking a long time .. poor coding on the developer's part too. They were returning the entire user listing and then counting rows when it could have been done with a count(*) statement. This made a tremendous speed improvement in the Photos section as well.
