Smoke blowers/drag racing

Over on the 6L Aftermarket board, people, generally of the drag racing ilk, are show off how much smoke they can blow. Is it just me or this an incredibly stupid thing thing to do ?

These drag racers are starting to get under my skin too. I don't care if they want to race their trucks at the track, but more and more posts seem to indicate they are street racing. Hmmm.... 7,000 pound truck, lifted 6", doing 90 MPH, blowing smoke, on tires rated for 80MPH, street racing... what could possibly go wrong ?

I like speed as much as the next guy, but KEEP IT ON THE TRACK.

Re: Smoke blowers/drag racing

Mack,

I don't much like it either. But the guys with small *** and big egos have to have something that makes them feel good. If it takes racing a "manly" truck against folks who don't have their trucks turned up just to make them feel like men, then more power to them.

It isn't the safe thing to do.

It surely isn't the smart thing to do.

But neither you nor I can do anything about it. Leave that to the cops.

I know a fellow who can't make child support payments (not court ordered) because he's STILL paying fines for street racing his Chevy 2500 with the 8.1L V-8 in Abilene from 2 years ago. I know of innocent folks who have been killed by street racers. I don't have much concern for folks who street race... it is extremely irreponsible and the law will catch up to those folks in due time. They'll lose their trucks when they can no longer afford the payments due to the increased insurance bills and their fines.

I hope you are just venting, because no matter how right you are ( and you are) the only thing your post here is going to do is supply some entertainment. Not that you had that in mind of course.

The problem is it is not just their insurance rates that will be increased. More importantly people can be killed. They should think about what they are doing but if they are not already a post here is unlikely to change them.

Re: Smoke blowers/drag racing

True that... Most of the tendency to drag race left me about the time I had a family and realized I couldn't afford higher insurance rates or a broken truck anymore. Take care of your toys, and they'll take care of you... dead on the side of the road with 3 horses in tow is not a place I'd like to be.

Yes, there is and, as a matter of fact, we don't condone anything illegal here. I agree but, I think we're getting a tad personal.

Topic closed and duly noted, thanks for understanding.
