So, I've been away for a while....

...but I tried to continue to be a regular after the sellout, but I can't seem to do it anymore.

The site, while I like the SW changes, I don't like the fact that it seems to be on it's own, not moderated at all. Forums are full of crap, OT threads etc. and looking through each forum is just not fruitful. I go to specific forums for specific things. I don't go to the 6.0 Engine Forum to hear about tire resistance, lift kits, bumpers etc. If I want to hear or read about fuels, alternate fuels, I'll g to that forum, not the 6.0 Engine Aftermarket forum.

It's not a bad thing to see someone do well and sell something they built, but when it gets dumped into "Mall" and left for the kids to destroy, it's sad, and frustrating.

I keep trying to come back, but I'm struggling because I can't come and see things I want to see with digging and culling through a mess.

What's the point, I dunno. I guess a question, have the forum rules and guidelines been left out to rot? Are there no more moderators around to keep the forum cleaned up? I always felt for them because it was a PITA to keep up, but it seems like they finally threw in the towel and gave up.

matthassey,

Someone saved you from yourself and deleted your reply.

I was going to quote you here but I'll just address your concern since you know what you said and it's not important for others to know.

Yes, you absolutely see me replying to threads that are off topic sometimes. Off topic threads are not only annoying clutter for those who use the site, but they don't do the person any good if they aren't looking in the right place for the info. they're looking for. I wouldn't walk into a donut shop and stand at the counter waiting for them to bring me an oil filter for my truck. I'd look silly and people in line wanting to buy donuts would be delayed and inconvenienced, oh and I'd likely not get a filter either.

As for your concern that when you see my reply suggesting the person post in the appropriate forum and the thread "is" in that appropriate forum, it's because I helped that person out by taking the necessary action to get the thread moved there. The Moderators do what they can but there aren't enough of them to keep up with up all the mess people make.

However I realize that after a thread has been moved, my reply looks out of place and some people let that bother them . It's not a habit, but in some of those replies I mention the wrong forum that it was in which makes the fact that it was moved a little more obvious.

It's the sacrifice I make to help make this a better place, for you.

I agree, used to come on here every night. Now it takes forever just to load. I don't have the patience to wait 1-2 minutes for a page to load. Bye DS

I just don't see that many adds, a couple at the top and a couple at the bottom? Looking at bakflip-tonneau and I don't want one but I did click to take a peek? I just don't see the big deal.

For about 15 seconds. I only get it on my wifes computer which is an OK Office Depot $1,000 special. My high speed dual chip computer never does it? Possibly it's a processor or ram memory thing? Hey I'm not a computer geek so I'm just guessing. Any computer experts feel free to chime in.

How can you expect someone to talk about on topic performance on the Upgrades & Aftermarket forum if we aren't allowed to talk performance?

The site has to decide just what it want's to be.
If you look at some of the competing sites, their performance forums are jammed with people discussing just how to make the 6.4L run. It is making over 1000lb's of torque from some very minor upgrades.
All of that great conversation gets deleted here.

I kindahave to agree with you FamilyRide.... since I bought my Jeep SRT in January, I rarely come onto TDS anymore since I don't really drive my Harley that much anymore, but it's justnot the same anymore. Allt his cltter on the screen and WAY too long to load pages. God Forbid if I'm on my wife's laptop downstairs, it's not even worth coming on and it's not a bad laptop at all. To the orig. TDS...... R.I.P. :-(

Same here. Does not take 2 mins though but about 3 to 5 times longer that it used to be. This saying implicates reading and writing "off peak time" from Europe. It must be terrible at your "normal" time in the US.

But that is far but all. The special feeling of TDS is gone. The "other" forum discontinuation was the first play, the recent changes made it done. Ok, you can still write here but the best days are over.

Jim

p.s. I know the reasons why the "other" was closed. Still there had been some other ways do deal with that.

For now, the tinkering has began, and the OverLord mentality is back in full swing. I hope the Administrator sees this for what it is. There have been ZERO problems in that forum since it has been up, less a few folks in the beginning who wanted to "stir the pot". I get so tired of being lectured by folks about what I can and can not do, EVEN BEFORE IT HAS HAPPENED. Authority just seems to be too intoxicating for some folks.

Not with Mozilla Firefox. Add scripts and ad blocker and it is as fast as any of the sites out there.

I have to admit I haven't looked into the new "other" since the shutdown of the old one. Maybe it takes some time to get behind to clear your memories to be able to step into new things.

There were times the TDS was best and the tahoeforum - have 2 GM 9000s - was nothing. Now the tahoeforum got the athmosphere TDS lost. Even if the # of total postings is far far away from TDS there is more for me to read. Personal perception I know and the TDS still is a good forum.

I use Opera btw.
