Re: Something to think about in the upgrades and aftermarket 7.3
That's no different than if the shop across town does the same thing. The fact that they are a user here is irrelevant I think. This is just a small microcosm of the world, so we get all types.

Jason,
I agree, we do get the good with the BAD here. Just because someone is on TDS does not automatically make them out to be a friend. They have their own motives for being here and it may not be in our interests at all! A few months ago I did not feel this way but after seeing artwork I created and "own" showing up on e bay and other diesel forums for sale, I have changed the way I post on TDS. The e bay sales were from a fellow TDS member.
The fact that they are (were) a user here is VERY irrelevant to me now......You or a moderator kicked him off TDS for some reason!
Louie

Bella,
i understand your ire...
(since I write software that without "protection" would be everywhere in a few days.... even with the Intellectual property laws)
but you posted "artwork" on a public forum and question whether or not someone can/should get it ?
I,for one, would not post anything out here I would not want distributed....
AGREE - if you put a disclaimer on it like copyright, others should abide by it...
but in this day and age, honesty is no longer a virtue - it seems to be looked on as a sickness and/or weakness by many others !
and with certain supreme court rulings - it seems it's getting further and further sick

I have a scenario for you. How about when a fellow TDS member steels artwork (T 444E sidebars) and post on another forum and tries to sell it as his own. Then the same thing shows up on e bay.

I still love those on my truck. I got the original ones.
Re: Something to think about in the upgrades and aftermarket 7.3
One thing to keep in mind is, there are many diesel performance/truck enthusiasts and a LOT of them are getting creative on their own. Whether their idea/item is born from a "wild hair" or even a stray thought stemed from someone elses idea, it's their freedom to exercise their thoughts and/or creativeness. True, someone might "release" the idea/item first or be the first to show it off, but this doesn't neccessarily mean it's their idea/item(copyrights are obviously a different issue). One that comes to mind is "zoodad" or something like that. It's just a larger opening for fresh intake air. There were several people I knew that had done this to their trucks months ahead of the first postings. Did he seem like a nice guy, heck yah. Did a lot of others have this done already and others do this still today, yep. Fact is, it's just another mod., but he was the first to post it. Did he want a brownie button or a chest to pin it on, NO. It was posted to share and to help.
There have been some great inventions/discoveries made on FD, now TDS. Many are actually being produced and/or marketed. Do some people go out of their way to define, redefine, or even just refine a mod, sure. That's our option/right.
Unfortunately, there has also been a lot of ignorance and dirt throwing all in the name of pride and selfishness. Why is it that so many people feel they have something to prove, or worse, their opinion means more than the next guys opinion. "Mine is bigger" seems to be the mood in many discussions in the last year or two. In the early days of FD, it was much more sharing ideas, discovering new hp/torque, and building trucks and friendships.
Not to go stray off topic, but look at the pics that are being loaded and saved on TDS. It seems more than 1/2 of the photos have NOTHING to do with our trucks. IMHO, I'd like to see the basis of TDS to go back to the roots. As in a bunch of "good 'ol boys"(& girls) and their nice trucks.
If people continue to just ***** and complain that so-and-so took my this or so-and-so took my idea about that, more and more people are going to loose interest in the "gradeschool playground" and go somewhere else. Competition is not a bad thing, but let's grow up a little.
