I just finished upgrading the network speed between the web and database servers. If you are still getting slow page load times, please post the info shown at the bottom of the page like this for example: "Generated in 0.048 seconds in which 0.005 seconds were spent on a total of 5 queries."
Generated in 16.679 seconds in which 16.459 seconds were spent on a total of 17 queries. Zlib compression disabled.
(Posting this response: Generated in 0.052 seconds in which 0.006 seconds were spent on a total of 7 queries. I think I need to stop now. I am getting into a recursive loop )

Jason -- Is there a threshold for a "slow" time? Don't want to say something is slow when it's normal.
Cheers from Tulsa, OK!

Jason,
Normally I don't notice the site speed because we have a T3 line at the dealership. I'm out of the office this week working the RVIA show with Fontaine and am using dial-up. The connection here is ONLY 26.4, I am going crazy! I tried a few days ago to browse the forum and just gave up because it was so slow. Today it seems to be doing great, even with the 26.4 connection!
I've been watching the queries with a special program and see that there are a couple of specific queries that are taking several seconds to run. In the meantime, other queries queue up until the slower one finishes. Many of the slowest queries are users searching all forums for keywords. With nearly 900,000 posts, that can take a while to return the results. I've disabled searching all forums temporarily to see if that helps any.
Since making that change, I haven't seen a single query take over 3 seconds. Before the change, we were averaging a query taking over 15 seconds or more every couple of minutes. Might be on the right track now.
Wait a sec, I remember somewhere I read about MySQL not liking querying across multiple tables (Does the search do that?) or not liking something or other about multiple something. Let me go find that link again.

Not sure about MySQL. SQL on the system I manage takes for ever if you're searhing mulitple tables. It does work though, hit the key and take a coffee break. Is MySQL much different, it's SQL afterall?
Could be.
That ability to search only the '99-up forums is something I've been needing for a long time. I was going to suggest you add it, but then when I went to be sure it wasn't already there - it was!
