Re: Speed Differences?

So far, things are MUCH better since you limited the searches. I haven't had any long delays since then.

Re: Speed Differences?

13 seconds is the longest anyone has posted, and that was during our peak times. That's much better than the 30-50 seconds some were posting earlier. I can see two more queries that occasionally take 5-10 seconds, but am not sure why yet. I'm tracking them now to see if they all have something in common. I'm thinking it is the new post tracking feature and may try disabling it to see if that gets rid of the remainder of the delay. I'm going to leave it like it is currently though to see if the speed continues to be better.

Re: Speed Differences?

Don't know if this has a thing to do with it but here it is.

Exploitation of Systems running Microsoft SQL Server

The CERT/CC continues to receive reports of systems being compromised through the automated exploitation of null or weak default sa passwords in Microsoft SQL Server and Microsoft Data Engine. This activity is accompanied by high volumes of scanning, and appears to be related to recently discovered self-propagating malicious code, referred to by various sources as Spida, SQLsnake, and Digispid.

For more information, please see CERT Incident Note IN-2002-04.

We have also received reports that describe activity potentially related to the vulnerabilities described in Microsoft Security Bulletin MS02-020; however, we have been unable to confirm these reports. Still, we encourage sites to apply the patches in this bulletin.

The CERT/CC is interested in receiving reports of this activity. If machines under your administrative control are involved, please send mail to cert@cert.org with the following text included in the subject line: "[CERT#38873]".

Re: Speed Differences?

rheaman:

This site uses MYSQL, not Microsoft SQL, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Jason:

Throughout the evening, the site performance has been much better than I've seen it for months. You just may have found the problem. Let's hope so, anyway.

Re: Speed Differences?

WOW....an awesome job Jason. The pages have never loaded this quick before. I'm seeing page loads of mostly under 1/2 a second and nothing at all today over one second.
