Since I could have voted in that poll just like a 6.0L, 7.3IDI, 6.9L, non Diesel or non Ford Diesel owner could, there is no way IMO to get reliable results reflective of any specific subgroup of TDS members.

Re: Splitting the forum

Larry,

I didn't mean to stir up trouble with that poll. Most people don't venture into this forum to see this thread. I just wanted to use the poll to get opions on the matter, then I was gonna post a link to it here. That way Jason could see it, if he wanted to.

Again, not wanting to start trouble, I know that you are the mod and that is your job. You have the rights to do with a thread, what you think is right and I respect that. This is not my website and I enjoy that it is here for our use. I just think that most in that forum, do not want the forum split. You could see by the poll, for as far as it got, that the majority like it how it is.

Re: Splitting the forum

I also prefer the way it is. I always hated the split in the 99+ forums (when I've ventured up there). One will always be in a quandry as to what constiutes an upgrade (engine or other truck system?, upgrade or simple modification?, etc.). After that, when moderators start movings things to their appropriate (again subjective) forum and some portion of the membership disagrees, we (the 94-97 forum) end up with much the same "problems" we like to razz the "upper" forums about. As it is there is only maybe 1-1/2 pages of new/modified posts per day (seems manageable to me). Just my 2 cents (FWIW). Cheers!

[ QUOTE ]
Yeah, regarding the 6.9 and 7.3 IDI, I'd like to see them merged together again. There is just not too much difference between the two.

[/ QUOTE ]

I agree--the engines are so similar, it seems to make more sense to share a forum.

Re: Splitting the forum

I agree with Patrick & the others.
Leave it like it is. Makes searching a lot easier as one only has
to search one forum instead of two.....

It ain't broke!!!

Re: Splitting the forum

If it's worth anything (me bein' new to this site) I say leave it as it is. I had a question today as I was working on my truck so I posted and got 2 answers (not one!) back within 5 minutes. Absolutely great! I could go out and continue working immediately. If they are split (as mentioned before) I would fear that the learned guys would hang out in the mods forum and there would be less people to answer the questions for us new people (me).

In addition, I enjoy seeing what everyone has to say and learning from everyone without looking in two different forums.

But either way, this is the best Powerstroke resource I have ever seen.

Thanks,

Re: Splitting the forum

Well when the split was done on the 6.9 7.3 I felt the same as you!
But I now go to both! I don't think you'll have to worry about the the learn,ed ones leaving! If they are truelly interested in the site most will surf thru and see whats happening on both forums! And we are also gathering more people all the time and new Learn,ed ones All the time.Knowlege will never be a problem here on this site!Need to know sumthing just ask!If ya need to post it on 2 forums to get the message out then copy and paste!I personaly see little diffrence between the 97 and 99 same as 6.9 and 7.3 but if the forum needs to be split to make the perfomance of the site and speed better then so be it.

Just my opinion.

Re: Splitting the forum

Wow, I start something, go away for a couple of days and come back to this... I didn't mean to cause such a ruckus, I just think that know that when I'm interested in reading about Jonathan's new injectors or how well diamond headlights work, I'm not in the mood to read the 5,000th thread concerning the same old g.p. relay problem and vice versa, if I'm having trouble with my brakes, I don't care about what tires will fit under my new 6" lift.
As far as the poll, I missed it but it sounds like a good idea. I don't see why you wouldn't get a representative opinion of the members that would be affected by it. I don't figure there are a lot of S.D. ers that are going to take the time to come down to the poor side of town to screw with the results of a poll that they couldn't care less about.

I would probably prefer to keep it as it is now. I read everything if I have time in that forum and just pick and chose if not.

Re: Splitting the forum

I like it the way it is too.

I can see the logic to splitting it, but I think the the amount of traffic we get does not justify the extra hassle of having one more forum to look through.
