Suggestions for Ford

Why not make a forum for polite suggestions of options or modifications to current equipment for Ford to add or offer for these trucks? There is no question they keep an eye on this site and this forum could be a central place for the ideas that are contained in the thousands of threads found on this site.

This forum would not be used to complain or talk smack and one rule would be these posts would be quickly removed by a moderator as the rest of the site can and is already used for this. Maybe we'll get the options (rear climate control, harpooned tanks, 3:55 gear, etc, etc) that we desire quicker. I don't think it would hurt.

What do you think?

If Ford is watching this site, and I believe they are , then Ford already knows what the complaints are, what mods work and so on .

If Ford is listening to this site, in the past 5 years they were unable to address:

In the 99 - 2003 7.3 trucks

- Trannies grenaded just as easily even after they added the trans temp guage

- ESOF still has issues

- What about harpooning the tank

- A better fuel pickup

- Cackle

- CPS, CPS, CPS

Some of these could have been rather cheap and improved the truck and made some peoples ownership more enjoyable.

I've been fortunate and my truck has not had a single problem in 94K miles, but others have been less fortunate. I think a suggestion forum would be nice.

Re: Suggestions for Ford

I can't speak for Jason and won't, but personally I don't see that happening even if number 6 below turns artic.

1. That really isn't one of the purposes of TDS as I understand it.

2. They already get some of that during some of the Rallies that they attend in their "focus" groups ... at least they did during the one NE Rally I attended.

3. That could be a little too close to the drumming up support for "any cause" which is not allowed.

4. I seriouly doubt there is that much to seriously consider and it would basically turn into a complaint forum that would be unmoderatorateable (new TDS word )

5. Ford can already look thru the various forums if they desire to and probably do to some extent.

6. Finally, it might have to get a lot colder HERE than it currently is

Re: Suggestions for Ford

...and who would pay for the free help to Ford?

At some of the Rallies I've been to, they (FoMoCo) held Super Duty Focus Groups and kind of made out that they cared what we said I think they will continue to follow the bottom line aspect of designing cars and trucks.

Re: Suggestions for Ford

I seriously doubt "Ford" as a corporation is watching this or any other independent website. Long as the web address dosen't have Ford in it they couldn't care less At most you might have a service manager or two lurking about but who knows, I've been wrong before.

Re: Suggestions for Ford

I could agree with the careless part, but I bet they watch a lot of public sites relating to them and their competition.

As far as the bottom line goes that is why I stressed "options". If we will buy it chances are they will provide it. It is pure capitalism.

I don't work for Ford, but I do buy their trucks every two or so years and I like to see improvements that benefit me and others especially since I'm in mine 4-8 hours per day.

Yea, but another mod or Jason might have to delete it for language, but it's real .... I have more of a sense of humor than you might think ... LOL ... Actually, a guy I know was told by a Ford Rep that they have people who routinely look at this site among others as a part of their job.

Of course, that doesn't mean they are doing anything other than surfing and spying.......

Problem is the people they hired to do the job do not understand english or they're paid to watch, bit not react. I would think that some of the things that have been discussed on this site would have been corrected pronto. I will admit that some of the changes would have cost too much money to implement, but some of these would have cost very little and nothing was done.

I have read that Ford sends engineers out into the field to talk with contractors and other people using these trucks to make a living and many good designs and changes have come about from that. I would think that Ford would have heard of the Hutch mod or Harpooning the tank by now.

Re: Suggestions for Ford

Man, I want a job where I can cruise these forums all day. But it better pay good, just the few hours I read them a day has cost me way too much in mods, and paper for my to-do list.

I think one problem we'd have is thier engineers. I doubt many of them are open to new ideas by no-name nobody's like us telling them how to make thier design better.

Who knows, it could happen!
