Sure Appreciate This Website

Just wanted all of you to know how much I appreciate this website.

There is a lot of experience here and a lot of well meaning folks who make an earnest attempt to help out us newbies and non newbie diesel heads. I, for one, am deeply grateful to you!

Am I old fashioned? Yep. Well, I am ole Mike, old, and old fashioned. And I hold dear old fashison principles.

Yep, I have not changed from using the factory fill green coolant my 2002 came with. Nor have I changed from using Rotella 15W-40 the previous owner had been using so successfully.

Don't use a blue CPS either. Guess I do not embrace change easily and believe if it ain't broke, don't fix it.

So there you have it. I just wanted to say "thanks" to those who post so faithfully with good, helpful and well meaning information. You know who you are.

Mike

Re: Sure Appreciate This Website

Nice post, Mike. I too am always grateful to those who help when I have a question, or when I see folks helping others. I try to do my best to do the same.

Also have to say thanks to those who run and moderate the site, as those are some tough jobs, but we wouldn't have this and other places like it without the guys in charge.

Re: Sure Appreciate This Website

Mike,

I think I can speak for all the moderators here to say we appreciate your kind comments.

It's sure nice to read a post and be able to smile, than to read one whining about this or that, and have to grit your teeth.

We'll keep on doing whatever we can to help.

Re: Sure Appreciate This Website

I've been here a while and I'm still learning stuff. Plus this site has saved me tons of $$$ by being able to fix things myself rather than taking my truck to the dealer. Sure, some of the things were minor, like the door locks but if you've ever had to reach across to open the passenger door.... well it gets old real quick. I too am very thankfull of this site.
And there's others of us that are just as "old fashioned", I've used the same brand of oil for over 5 years in my truck, wouldn't dream of changing it. Same type of coolant and so far, never bought a CPS. (I probably just jinxed my truck by saying that)

That's funny it's cost me $$$ with all the mods!!!

But really, it is the single greatest source of information on the web for Ford diesel truck owners!

Re: Sure Appreciate This Website

Kept track for a while and gave up. I figure somewhere in the neighborhood of $5000 saved so far, had my truck since Sept 2000.

My daughter graduated college in 2004 (I'm broke) and got married August of 2005 (so far beyond broke it isn't funny). My son will start college in three more years so mods for me are limited to reolcating the aftermarket cupholder along the bottom of the driver side window.

Re: Sure Appreciate This Website

Never dreamed a PSD would be such a blessing to our family. I did not want a diesel. Never wanted one. Did not like the sound or smell of them.

But really it was my wife of 42 years who pushed for getting one. Two of her female co-workers drive 75 plus miles, one way, to work each day and each owned a Ford PSD. Both raved about the mileage and durability.

So when it came time for my retirement pickup to tow our small travel trailer, she encouraged me to get one, rather than a new gas King Ranch F-150. Drove a couple and did not mind the sound at all.

And gracious, what torque! I loved it!

So a good used XLT became available and we bought it. Never been more pleased and saved some depreciation money. And had it not been for this website and the good, faithful contributors and moderators that unselfishly help out us newbies, I would have been lost. Never even opened the hood of a diesel before.

Sorry for the long post, but I feel very strongly about many of the fine folks who help with this site. They are great folks!
