Is there limit to the size of PM's?

Do different PM's have different limits?

BTW I think i posted this once before and it's a reasonable question about the site mechanics?

There is a limit to the size of PM's. You would be able to write a short manifesto before you ran out of space.

Possibly because I was linking images and web sites that is major space hence the error message.
