That's it I'm out of here...This is my last post. I can't deal with people telling me I don't know what I'm talking about at work and when I come here I get slammed, why should I do that to myself? ain't gonna happen any more, you try to be in my shoes and deal with customers all day and come here to get some additional info on factory info (TSB's, SSM#, Recall's) that is here before I see at the dealer (How that happens I wish I knew ) and the aftermarket products. I try to help here at this site, don't claim to know all or see all. Been working on diesel's since '82 and seen a lot of stuff though the years. Just wanted to share my knowledge. Most of you don't even know what engine noise is. Try driving a 235 fuel sqeezer Cummins in the morning or a Cat 1693, or 6.9L anyone.
The diesel's these days have come a long way in power, economy and are a lot quieter.
DON'T FORGET, IT'S STILL A TRUCK WITH A DIESEL, NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO TO IT!
As Walter Croncite would say..."and that's the way it is"
or Paul Harvey would say everyday...."and that's the rest of the story....Good day"
BUH BYE!
Don't let a few folks get to you. Take a breather, go down and hang out in the bilge for a while to recuperate, and see if the world doesn't look a little more inviting in the morning.
Saw this post in another forum and replied to it there, so I will reply again in this forum and reiterate. Your 18-19 years experience working on diesel engines has gained you a wealth of knowledge that is needed on this site. Please reconsider and stick around!

As you can see, Macsimizer - there's members who'd be very willing to have you stick around.
Sure, customers can be a pain (heck, NONE of mine EVER want to need my services) but the neat thing about dealing with members on this site is - just ignore 'em if they bother you. Can't do that with customers!
Best to ya - Come on back anytime.

We get people all the time that only think their opinion is correct and don't like it when someone disagrees with them. It's a fact of life that not everyone is going to agree with everything you say .. whether you are a Ford mechanic or not. I've met certified mechanics that had no clue what to do unless the computer told them. On the other hand, I've met guys who never finished high school who can do amazing things with engines and other mechanical devices.
The point being we don't necessarily need to give you extra credit for being a Ford mechanic. If it is your opinion that that makes you better than the rest of us, I think we are better off without you. Posting this same message in several different forums proves you are just looking for attention and approval that you are better than the rest of us.
Don't let a few people who don't agree with you get you down. Theres alot of users on this site. Theres plenty that just read and never post. You probably help out thousands to the few who disagree and fight with you to get your dander up. Keep up your good work of posting to help others. You just may put something up on this site that will help me in the future to fix a problem I might get and I don't want to lose that chance. Keep a stiff upper lip buddy and keep posting.
i gave ya 5 stars! That should make ya feel better !If thats whats botherin ya turn the dam rate thing off!Thats what I did no hurt feelings that way! Be happy Don't worry!
Hang around!
I been at it for 25 years!
Gonefishin's been at it a quite few years too!Davey deisel lots a guys been at it a long time and have observed and formed opinions on stuff! people still have a right to disagree any time they want!pet peaves and whatever
I have my opinion you have your's leave it at that!If sumbody disagrees with ya ether justify what you say or ignore the comment or stand corrected . Simple ! No problem!
Its still a good hangout!
Hang around!

Hi there Guy I would think about your decision before you leave. I know I did when I got mad and posted a nasty note.
I get slammed about some of the topics I have brought up but I ignore the smart ass comments or the know it alls that think they are right and nobody else is.
This is a good place to visit and everybody benefits from everthing shared here.
I know where you are comming from about how the old diesels were like. You guys think a PSD is noisy try working with the old 2 stroke detroits. These engines were so damn loud you would go deaf without ear plugs.
The old Cummins NTC NTA and Big Cam engines rattling and shaking and belching blue smoke when cold you figured a fire was going on.
I have worked around diesels all my life and they are suppose tobe loud and rough running.
Like the other day at Ritchie Bros auction there was an old D9 Cat and I was watching them start that sucker. The pup motor screaming as it was trying to crank over the big six cylinder engine. When it got going it was firing on a couple cylinders then finally on all six rumbling away. I hopped on the machine to try her out so I pulled the throttle on all the way and push down the decelerator. Slowly letting up on the decelerator and you could feel the power this old girl has. Man it felt good to feel all the power under my foot, enough to pull six houses off their foundations.
Theres no way these new electronicley controlled diesels would have the same jam as that old girl does.
I hope you make the right decision
Thanks
KW

Hey Macmizer I posted to you in The other section of the forumn, Come on down and relax and cool your heels . We are laid back in quite a few post, ya gotta be carful where you step 'cause when the water is up we got floaters .
We also have some stimulating debates on varying topics. Always some joke posts that you can add to. All you have to do is pick out what you like and ignore the rest.
Don't cost nothing to give us a try You aren't going to know if you like it or not unless you give us a try and let us know what you think.

Hello everyone out there, I came back to work just to write this;
My name is Trent. I am an apprentice going on to Ford tech for just over 3 yrs now. Every morning my Mentor and I check this site out and other Ford related sites to get the lastest and to help with the questions being asked out there.
I have been here since I got out of high school, been working with my Mentor from day one.
Friday, my Mentor had a day like no other. He was having troubles here anwsering a question about a tsb I think, then later he had a serious argument with the shop foreman about not paying my Mentor for a job he did, because they (ford) remove the labor operations, he hit his locker so hard that he dented it, 4 dents from his knuckles. (He is a Purple belt in Taekwondo) Then they wanted him to stay late to finish a job that would take a long time to do, with a full 2 page Ro, this happened at about 4:30 p.m.
He told them he had to leave at a decent time that morning, he gets here before 6 a.m. everyday and stays sometimes till after 10p.m. sometimes to fix some of my mistakes, I know that for sure.
I guess they didn't hear him. He just lost it, told them to F*** you all, hopped on his Harley and was gone.
Man was he pissed. Beet red was about the color he had.
This place has cost him a marriage, time and a lot of money.
It was his sons birthday and he was late. Now it is Sat. 10:30 p.m. my time and no one can find him, anywhere.
My Mentors name is Daryl, but you know him as macsimizer.
I am here to stand up for him, some people seem to see someone write something here and assume they are a know it all or want attention. Well he does not.
He will give you the shirt off of his back and not ask anything in return. He takes time out to anwser questions for customers. He does some jobs and won't charge the customer because he feels that the shop charges to much for simple things like battery cleaning and tire calibrations. He has shown all the other techs how to calibrate for tire size then they go and charge the customer and get paid for his knowledge.
He has a mass amount of math figures and fomula's in his noodle, I wish I had, It just takes time he says.
He has what we in the military call Honor, Integrety, and the modivation to help others.
He has been there for me at Grad., when both my grandparents past in the same year, and at my wedding. He has helped me when I joined the Army reserves (sgt-96 means when I got it) his military knowledge got me through basic, and formal training, stuff he learned when he was or as he says, IS, AM Always will be a Marine. Heck I even got him to sign back in the service and join my unit in Ogden, Utah. I am a 63W all wheel mechanic and he is a Fuel& electronics Specialist 63G. He even pulled a 6.2L out of a Hummer in 4 1/2 hours and his SGT told him to slow down "you're not on flate rate here, you will get paid" I laughed that day, it was a had to be there moment.
I know he doesn't make much, about 47K was his gross last year, he shows me his checks and tells me that it will make me want to work harder.
I know he moonlights at a couple of indepentent shops to help them when they have ones that they have a hard time figuring out. And he works at a Harley shop I think he has money invested in, something like that.
He keeps on telling me when I Graduated from college that "all those pieces of papers you get don't mean squat if you cannot back them up". All of his Certs. plaques, and other stuff that he got from Ford (which he has all of the Ford training that is avalible from Ford), Caterpillar and Cummins sit in his wall locker, he doesn't brag for all I know about his training at least not around me, he lets his work speak for him.
You can ask anyone of the customers he takes care of about his work or character, you may get the same anwser from everyone.
We sometimes call him Webster (the dictionary), he hates that.
Man was he pissed, never seen him that way before, I hope he comes to work on Monday.
Again I am here writing this and standing up for him. I don't think he was tring to get any attention, just extremelly upset and not at one person, then I am not a shrink either.
This site does have some good info, has helped me, esspecially when I get quized by my Mentor whichs happens a lot.
I've been AWOL from the Forum for a while and missed whatever turned Mr.Macsimizer off and self-opted out, BUT I note the reaction to his farewell post is unanamous in urging him to reconsider and remain, EXCEPT for the Forum Command statements like "..we are better off without you" and " ... looking for attention and approval that you are are better than the rest of us."
Like the U.S. Army, Ford-Diesel.com is an organization with a diverse membership of people with varying social, financial, educational, talent, skills, competence etc. traits. An Army Commander has no choice of who he gets to command , but he is trained to and expected to provide leadership regardless of who he leads. A big factor in effective leadership is public relations. So Macsimizer is having a bad-hair day, telling him to go ahead and go is equivalent to telling the distraught guy standing on top the building ready to end it all to "Go ahead and jump, the world's no good". Leadership means leading, not pushing.
Just about everyone thinks they are "better than the rest of us" on some subjects, and I have no doubt Macsimizer is a lot better at diesels than I am or ever will be. I suggest the Head Shed lighten up on Trooper Macsimizer - we might need his expertise one of these days.

It does not matter what the age or experience, veteran or active soldier, teacher or student.
To be here and post or stand by and learn we all have a responsibility to this site and to the members, which is to conduct ourselves in a mature manner.
Unlike the daily contacts we meet, to post on a forum gives each individual the opportunity to analyze and reconsider what is to be (published).
I believe Jason has summed up the problem and the rest of the posting membership has shown the compassion available on ford-diesel.
If you have never participated in one of the ford-diesel rallies it is hard to understand the comradely that has been demonstrated by total strangers. It is this something special that makes this site what it is.
We can’t always get what we want, we can always take responsibility for what we get.
Welcome to the forum SGT-96 and enjoy it, let the junk roll of you back, consider the source. Thank you for your post. It is very simular to KW when he had problems. He has worked through some of them. It takes time, and it will take time for macsimizer to work through his. Like I have said before , reach dowm and grab those mocansans and put them on. Sarg. thanks for letting us know something about the fine man that you work with. There are not many of us here that have those qualities and strive to do right by others. Stay with him and help him through his problems and in return you will learn a great deal. Not only in your chosen proffesion, but also in character. From your post anyone from moron on up the food chain can tell that mac has got to be burned out and has put himself under a tremendous amount of stress. He is going to have to relieve some of the stress, take a little vacation and relax some. You can help him.
Mac as I said in you post, if you want, you are welcome in the bilges.
MACSIMIZER you being a MARINE I know you know what I mean by this! ROCK AND ROLL!!!
Get that head on straight and get on with it, Thats an order. I know you have heard that before so take care brother and things will get better. Peace

As another one of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children, Macsimizer, just look at some of those folks with the disagreeable posts like you do the new "Butter-bars". And treat them about the same, as well. But hang in there! And Semper Fi, Mac(simizer)!
