Is there a easier way to search! - Diesel Forum

I hate having to search through all the forums, archives etc. one by one. There has to be a better way. Or do I not know what I am doing?

Thanks for the info, I kinda figured that was the reason for the missing Web Site search option. Oh well you have got to give some times.

cant you make it so you can search all of the forum at once, it would make life so much nicer. then people would not post the same questions again and again just because they could not find it in a search

With over 1.3 million posts, it is much too intensive on the server to search through them all at once.

I agree. The search engine on this site is a PIA. Probably the worst I've seen anywhere. Maybe it's me and I'm not doing it right, but it seems very archaic. I did a search yesterday on 99 up 7.3 engine aftermarket for "evolution edge" and got nothing. Lo and behold, I found an entry a few minutes later without the search engine with those exact words! Definately frustrating when you're anxious to get some info.

You are not by yourself Roadfrog. Ever since about two or three INFOPOP upgrades for the BB the search system sure leaves a lot to be desired. I spent a couple of hours about a month back trying to find some posts on Firestone tires. A couple of years ago I had done a lot of research and made posts with a lot of info on the recall . I even looked under my own user name,and I did get some of mine , but not the ones I were looking for. they did not come up. Went through the archives section also on the subject but to no avail either.

Some one in the X section had asked some questions and I was going to link them to the to the threads. [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shrug.gif[/img]

I do not ever tell someone to do a search anymore. I f cannot add any info I just go to the next thread. INFOPOP defiantly needs to work on this for their next update. IMHO [img]/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img]

I too have been trying to find special posts, after 1 hour I give up now and go to my books page by page it's faster.

The problem is you only get some of the posts (it's truncated to only the first page) doing a search on the "display name". Can't provide a link but if you look at your post #1308056 that might help.

For exsample!
Search say KW
I put KW in the words to be searched box,Pick display by user name ,Pick the in the last year, Pick the forum I was positive I last saw his post (Genaral diesel) is usually his hangout and got no matches!Did I do it wrong?
