Third Time --- VIRUS TRY --- MAD !!!!!!!!!! - Diesel Forum

Well this is the third time that I have received a try from a ROBERT VERRET .

This E-mail contains a virus folks. The previous two time my anti virus program and firewall caught it . This time I had my mail setup not to preview the massages and all I had to do was delete it .

They had a different twist on it this time. It had his name and stated that it was an e-mail change. Damn that is bold asking me to put it directly in my address book.[img]/ubbthreads/images/icons/mad.gif[/img][img]/ubbthreads/images/icons/mad.gif[/img]

Do try to remember that many times, the sender of the message does not know that they are infected.

If they did, I frankly would expect not to receive the hundreds of copies that I normally do.

You think you've got it bad...

Recently a spammer has been sending out porn spam with my email address in the reply-to field.

It's easy enough to see it ain't coming from me by looking at the message headers but that doesn't stop the complaints.

If you can determine the source, some states have made it illegal to forge headers.

It's all coming from the Asia/Pacific region--it's nearly impossible to do anything about it. Most of the time in these situations the machine sending the mail is a compromised host anyway.

Shawn this is a deliberate attempt to get into computters. I had never corrosponded with them before and tey way it was set up the first two times made it fairly apparent . The first one came on my old computer about 6 month back and IP antivirus caught it . The second one was on the new one and Norton caught it. Same message as first. This time I have it setup not to preview Email and I just dumped it .

Not exactly deliberate... let me explain

Remember the "I Love you" virus? It took the contents of your address book + some random files on your computer and emailed them to everyone in the book.

Well this is the latest generation of viruses. They take the contents of your address book still, but this time, they load a trojan into your computer for various reasons. This time, they use the book to send more copies of the virus to other people.

I assure you from vast experience in this (and with...32 copies of the virus in my inbox...) that rarely does the sender know they have the virus. And even if they do know, they do not know how to fix it.
