Virus detected on here

I just got a virus alert when I went to the 94-97 aftermarket section, Microsoft Security Essentials said it detected trojan download js/renos.

A popup with one of the variations of the fake Antivirus 2009 had appeared, likely came from one of the ads (a common problem). MSE cleaned it so it was no big deal for me, but some folks don't know about the popups for the fake AV's. DON'T click on ANYTHING on those popups--best bet is to use alt-ctrl-del to bring up task manager and kill it.

This is an issue that the Moderators cannot address but I will pass on your inquiry to the site administrator.

Noted. I will forward it to the tech guys. Thanks for reporting it. Chances are it is an ad related exploit as our site itself is secure. Cheers!

HASEN'T Gone away yet

I just moused over one of the banners ( sorry can't remember which one) and the pop up for internet security came up. I know about the cntrl/alt/del trick, and have used it in the past. this piece of garbage is popping up all over the net in legitimate sites. I got it three days ago trying to go to an RV dealer's web site.

I had the same issue. I had to do a system restore in order to stop the pop-ups.

Just don't click on any banners.
And if it's a JavaScript intrusion (from, let's say, mousing over a banner), you shouldn't be running with JS in the first place, that's asking for trouble.

Advice: if you have a good browser (not IE and not FF), you can set up your security so that the browser doesn't accept any cookies (unless you explicitly allow it for a website, like this one) and doesn't run any javascripts or doesn't even use automatic redirection and referrer logging.

Hope this helps.
Lou
