I recently ordered my new truck. My dealer was able to supply the VIN but that was about all. After becoming frustrated with my dealer (He actually told me he thought the truck was being built in Canada, I knew this wasn't true after decoding the VIN) I began searching for the VOPC information on the web. While it has been removed from this site, It can still be found on other websites. It took me about an hour or so to find the number.
I understand that I should not abuse the VOPC system by calling every hour to check my status but...
It seems a shame that Ford Escape owners and members of the Ford Escape Club on Yahoo can have access to this while our moderators have chosen to remove/conceal the information...

We can't discuss the VOPC hotline in this forum, so I'll move your topic to the News, Comments, and Suggestions forum where the WebMaster will be sure to see it. Please look for additional responses in that forum.

Yeah, what Kevin said.
Seriously, if it was me, I'd contact my dealerperson and advise him/her that I'd be calling (or dropping by) every Saturday morning about 10 a.m. for the latest update on the status of my truck, and that (s)he should have it on his/her desk when I call.
The dealership receives a daily VOPC change report with any changes to their orderbank since the last daily report. And on Friday, they receive a weekly VOPC summary change report that includes every vehicle in their order bank. Your dealerperson should be able to locate the weekly report, get the info on your order, and have it ready to read to you by the time you call on Saturday morning.
Look in the '99-up FAQ to see the several steps an order goes through, from the time it's ordered until the dealer sees it.
The VOPC is the Ford Vehicle Order Processing Center. A dealer's orderbank is Fordspeak for all the outstanding orders the VOPC has accepted from that dealer but that haven't yet been delivered to the dealer.
If your dealerperson won't agree to provide you this info every Saturday morning, you ordered from the wrong dealerperson.

Ford has been suing website operators who use any of the Ford trademarks or copyrights, including Ford, Mustang, F-Series, etc. Some they have closed down, others thay have bought out the domain name or site name for a cheap price, and some they have ignored. Jason doesn't want to get on their list of sites to be shut down or lose their name, so he's cooperating with Ford in hopes they'll continue to ignore his use of their name.
A close friend had a Mustang restoration business, and he sold parts for classic Mustangs. He was a "little guy" in a smaller town, but the Ford lawyers dropped by one day and asked him to take the name "Mustang" out of his company name. He considered fighting it, but his lawyers convinced him that his pockets were not deep enough to fight Ford. So now it's just "Joe's Restoration" instead of Joe's Mustang Restoration".
We sorta like the Ford-Diesel name, and don't think Jason-Diesel.com has quite the same ring to it.
Watch the Escape sites, and you'll probably see them brought into line before long.

True, but I still think that www.diesel-pickup.com is one of the coolest sites around (next to this one, of course ).

Sorry, I haven't been there. TorqueMaster is th one that mentioned the one on Yahoo, so I suppose if you go to www.yahoo.com and look around for an Escape forum, maybe you'll find it.

I spoke with all the dealers (Dodge too) in my area before deciding to order my new Ford. My experience has been that almost ALL salesman/dealers will tell you ANYTHING to make that sale...
So why do I have to get my status from my dealer when I know he is already lying to me...
Should I really be expected to believe he didn't know where my truck was being built when all the trucks on his lot are 3FT with the 11th being M. He is afraid I'll think the Mexican assembly plant is inferior. In fact I beleive the trucks assembled in Mexico are at least as good as the ones from Kentucky. By the way... All the Dodges sold on the west coast are assembled in Mexico also.
Ford should exploit the VOPC. It could be a reason to buy a Ford instead of a reason to buy a Dodge (I believe Dodge lets you track your order online)

If you know your dealer is lying to you, why did you choose to purchase a vehicle from him/her? I would not make a purchase of this magnitude from a dealer that I believe is lying to me.
