Whats With The Vendors Here & Linking?

Hey All,

You know, I understand the vendors that help sponsor/support this site are busy with calls, taking orders & what not. But its hard to get any feedback from them when you have questions or concerns about products. Not saying all, but this has happened to me a couple times now here & its almost bias because it seems the well known folks around here get their questions answered on the drop of a dime!!

I'm thankful for people like southmike along with the other folks that do help me when I have questions or concerns about certain items & problems. Whats the point of setting up shop if you cant run your own business!?! I know how internet marketing & running a business works online being I did it for awhile, people stay clear & spend money else where do to lack of support from the site.

Granted I have not been here long or know the politics behind this site (which should be none but there is) but if I were site owner & people, customers, site regs & supporters were having problems I'd tell them to pack it up & hit the road.

Then, I just read today that you cant have links pointing to outside vendors & the site vendors here. When you cant get the proper help from them or there is another place that offers better services/products at a cheaper price, then why not? I understand the site owners want there cut but come on now, it cost maybe a $100 a year to run a message board/bulletin whatever you want to call it, its all the same. Plus if their affiliated with the vendors they are still getting money?

Dont get me wrong, this is a great site for people like me who are new to diesel & need common help...

Maybe no one responded because your post makes no sense. Who are you mad at vendors that support this site or this site?

I am sure this site takes a little more than $100 a year to keep running. Check the statistics, at any given time there are about 1000 to 1500 people browsing on TDS. That translates to huge bandwidth. It is not a back yard operation you could run for $8.95 per month at mycheaphost.com.

this is an admins area, not moderators. mods have nothing to do with the vendors.

I'm questioning that too. If it's the vendors he's upset at, read my post in this same area about why I don't post much here anymore. If you have questions for me, call or email me. The telephone and email are my #1 and #2 best communication methods, and when you consider that I sponsor several sites, they are the only way you can guarantee I'll get the message in a timely manner.

Mycheaphost.com come on now. Look, message boards, bulletin boards, v-boards, whatever you want to call it or use come dime a dozen, if fact there are more than several message boards that are FREE with unlimited bandwidth with an extremely nice setup & fully functional. 2nd, if someone where to pay $9.00 a month for a hosting account then that person really needs to explore their options & stop getting riped off (depending). 3rd, depending on what host plan the person is using, you shouldnt be spending no more than maybe $150 per year & thats pushing it. Unless your just launching a site & its brand then I can see it costing more just because of the fact that you have to advertise, pay for hosting along with a couple other things.. I could go on & on, Ive been there done that, I know how it all comes in play.

I'm not really upset with this site in general because this site is full of knowledgeable & friendly people, there are somethings I dont agree with, but I'm not the owner of the site so it doesn't matter. As far as some of the vendors go (3), I'm not pleased or happy with their support at all. It does piss me off to ask questions that get no response in return to find out other peoples questions have been answered from the vendors! I think I can safely say that would annoy anyone. Then to ask other questions to find out they dont know whats going on & dont return emails. Sorry, but don't run a business if you have no idea whats going on or what your selling! Granted this site is for help & questions (which I truly appreciate) but I shouldnt have to depend on everyone here to get my questions answered because the vendor/whoever cant give or answer questions needed.

It says if a person has complaints post here, so thats what I did.

As for your first paragraph I think maybe you should start your own free boards and see how far that takes you

As for the second paragraph- is this the attitude that you put forward in asking vendors questions? If so bud, I can honestly see why you don't get your questions answered I have dealt with a few of the vendors that were here before the switch and can tell you that they are good at responding if you email or call them. ROTFLMAO- I just went thru ALL of you post history- lol- out of 37 posts the last 9 were whining about this site, LMAO! YOU'VE only ASKED 2 VENDORS QUESTIONS, LOL, SPDiesel on 3/10/08 but if you looked at his posts he hasn't even posted since 2/08/08, and you asked a question to DP Tuner which Diane responded 2x answering both of your questions.....WHAT ARE YOU WHINING ABOUT AGAIN? Just in case you want to check my posts, I was PlatinumEdition78412 before the change over, not sure why it took my username away and left me with my login ID.

If you ask them, they will change it back for you. They did mine.
