Where will this site be in 5 years; in 10?

This is just pure speculation but i suppose it fits in with the comments part of this forum.

I'm wondering where everyone sees this site in 5 or 10 years. About how many users register a month? Will that number grow exponentially over the years, has it in the past? Will new server hardware have to be used? Will it ever become member supported, such as requiring membership fees? Will the IDI forums become antique forums? lol. Will we eventually have GM and Cummins forums?

Sorry if I'm being too speculative, but whatever happens I'm sure i along with many others will be around for a long while, As long as Jason sticks around,

That's the only constant I need. The rest is just fluff.

I will be a loyal member for as long as this site is around!! With the advertising, and I'm sure that will grow as well, I don't think Jason will need to worry about funds. This is too great a site to ever go way.

Maybe ford will shape up and help sponsor the site one day,

I totally agree, and think it would be a great show of support for those who(in MOST cases) support the brand. BUT, I wouldn't hold my breath(too pessimistic?)

Re: Where will this site be in 5 years; in 10?

I have no idea but here is my guess.

In ten years, this site will be a dim memory.
Ten years from now the internet will have ceased to exist as we know it now.

On the upside. Diesel trucks will have just about peaked. Over the course of the next ten years baby boomer's will be retiring in never before seen numbers.
That means more RV's, more and better Diesel powered trucks

More slow grey hair drivers

somehow I don't see that happening Ford specifically states in the owners manuals the consequences for chipping/modifying or altering the vehicle from stock. this site is really geared towards doing just that if Ford sponsored the site wouldn't it be a huge contradiction to everything they print in the owners manual not to do

I am not trying to be a stick in the mud but it seems a little ignorant to think that Ford would ever sponsor this site thats why Jason has good companies like Diesel Innovations,ITP,DPP,DPPI,Gos Racing and on and on and on. I just can't see Ford ever condoning let alone sponsoring this great site, but thats just my opinion and I could be wrong

Re: Where will this site be in 5 years; in 10?

It will still be here but the "crew" will have turned over. Look at who's posting and the member numbers. From what I see who's posting, the average number is in the 20K range. Not a lot in my range. People will get the info they need hang around for a while and slowly drift away. Anymore I look to see if anyone is having the same issues I am at the moment, check the "other" forum and I'm gone.

It'll remain as long as Jason keeps it going, just the faces will change...

Look what I found!!

In searching for some old members that I knew back when I originally joined this site (2003), I came across this thread.

Since it has now been 5 years..............it's kind of interesting to read.

Jayson doesn't have to "worry about funds" He sold this site down the river, to a corporation that doesn't give a crap about any of our opinions on this site anymore.... hence all the adds for Hondas, PLAYBOY,, and other NON diesel related crap. (They use a software that just throws adds in willy nilly,, )

I've seen the future (it paid me a visit), this site is gone. Too many ads killed it off by over cluttering it to death.
