Wheres my picture under my name?

Sometimes it is there and sometimes not.
It's always there on my wife's computer.

Re: Wheres my picture under my name?

It's funny you should mention the "red X". It's not mine, but it does belong to several people that I have noticed. I thought about a red circle with a line through it on top of a Dod#e, but I didn't want to associate even that close to a Do#ge..you know, an OFF BRAND sort of truck! Re: Wheres my picture under my name?

You have your photo stored on WebShots. Not a user-friendly place.

http://community.webshots.com/s/imag...4DQoWxp_ph.jpg

The above is the URL of your photo. When I click on that, all I see is:

[ QUOTE ]
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /s/image2/7/31/4/80673104DQoWxp_ph.jpg on this server.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Apache/1.3.27 Server at community.webshots.com Port 80

[/ QUOTE ]

Since the above is HTML and not a .jpg photo, only the red x shows in your avatar.

When it shows as a photo when you look at it, that's probably because WebShots has a cookie on your PC, so it knows you're a member and lets you in. But the rest of us don't have that cookie, so all we see is the red x.

I don't understand.
Or do I. Are you saying that since I have been to the photo my computer picks up a cookie so that allows the picture to show up? Maybe I will have to accept that WebShots is not a user-friendly place. This is interesting though. When I got the email notification of your reply, I clicked on the link of your reply and it took me to my photo. I wish everybody could see it. I spent a little time on it and it is kinda cool. Then I went to the beginning of the thread and there I could see the picture under my name. (Sometimes it's there and sometimes not) I clicked on the link to my pictures and guess what, I don't have permission either.

When I uploaded the pictures they were .jpg. I guess WebShots changes them.

Smokey, what is the best way to present my pictures?

No, your photo on WebShots is a .jpg file. But the rejection notice they post on my screen when I try to see that .jpg file in not .jpg - it's HTML - or JAVA or some other sort of computer text language.

What Dick said.

Post your photo in the Member Gallery on TheDieselStop. Then when you want to capture the URL of that photo, look at the photo on the screen, then right-click on it, then click on "properties". Put the URL from the properties window in the "picture" block in your profile. Note that the URL must end in .jpg (or a couple of other photo formats) in order for the URL to work as your avatar.
