Why so many locks?

I don't regularly check out this forum, as I stay in the '94 - '97 section 99% of the time, but thought I'd check on a posting I left some time back.
I see when I open this forum "NINE LOCKS" all on one page! Obviously the moderators are being kept busy, and also the threads must be a hot topic? I'm just wondering if where trying to save hard drive space here, or is the actual topic too hot for the moderators?
I did some reading on one of the topics, in which someone was booted from the site, and in "my opinion" only, I too think Jason is being bull headed, but then this is his site, so he's allowed to be. [img]images/icons/smile.gif[/img]
This is a great site, and we all respect Jason's abilities and the work involved, but really it's the people (including all moderators) who make this site what it is, not just Jason on his own. I think most would agree with that, but what seems to stick in most people's craw is that whether they are right...or whether Jason is right (and that obviously depends on who is reading it) Jason always wins out. Nothing we can do but fume, and then get on with learning about new things about our rides on the site!

My Dad always said Locks were to keep honest people honest.

It holds true to-date. But those are different locks.

Most of the locked threads below were due to single topics being hashed out on multiple threads.

The rest were in place because the administration believed that all that could be said on the issue was said on the issue and that the only thing further that would result would have been inflammatory.

Two of the nine threads were locked when they were moved to the proper forums.

One of them was locked when the member who posted a question found his own answer and the thread became sort of a chat between two members that was better handled by e-mail.

And, as Keith said, the rest really all dealt with a single topic.
