Not upset, just asking . I can kind of understand the 3.99 a gal thread I started (Just trying to lighten the mood about fuel costs ). But others similar getting closed . JUST ASKING .
My guess would be for Duplication. Similar subject threads on the same page make for a clutered page. So normaly Moderators like tidy pages so that members not interested with that subject will not be inconvenienced by it. So it's common to ask you to keep it all to one thread. And so closing duplicate threads on the same subject is for everyones benefit. Basicaly if you find a recent open thread on the subject then its proper "netiquite" to keep it to one thread.
You have to make choices for everyone. Not just one group. And thats what they are doing.

I've been letting most of them go in the General Diesel forum, but many of them are duplicates of one another. Eliminating duplicates helps conserve server resources/bandwidth, and it's especially helpful for folks searching through threads. It's far more time-consuming to hunt through multiple threads on the same topic, than to have things contained in a single thread.
As a general rule, we've pursued this policy for as long as I can remember.
Several years ago Jason decided that fuel price discussions would be on topic only in the General Diesel forum. So Jay gets to have all the fun of policing them.
When found in other forums, the moderator should either lock them or move them to General Diesel.

On days like today it would be a hot topic so we shoud expect alot of threads on it. as it gets normal again(yea right) the threads will goto normal topics again. just like a hurricane on cnn for a couple days. I wish we could just tolerate them foe a cople days just to let us vent.
