I found this site a couple of weeks ago, I am realy enjoying it.The posts have awakened me to some of the things I should have done years ago to preserve my truck and extend its life well beyond 10 years. I do make posts from experiences and repairs I've done, I also also refer to the HELMS BIBLE as much as possible. What I find frustrating is the poster has not filled out the signature with his/her truck info. Therefore assisting them is futile in some cases without the first return post being "what type of truck, engine etc". I've read most everything on this web page, including a good number of the archives, but I could have missed it, is there an instruction/advisement to newby's to put your truck's info in the signature section first off. I know you can't force people to help themselves, but "Wouldn't it be nice"
PS I hope I have not stepped on any toes yet, if I have my appologies.
THAT OTHERS MAY LIVE

I agree. Just the other day a new guy had a question and I "invited" him to fill in his sig so we could see what he's driving. It does make it easier for those replying and makes it faster when you need the answer now. And besides, aren't we all curious about what the other guys are driving? I agree that the basic information would be helpful, but believe me there are many that don't know when to stop. Believe it or not there was a time when we were restricted to a maximum of three lines in the signature, and frankly, I find myself wishing it were still that way every time I load up a thread and see one line replies and have to wade through six to eight lines of someone listing every little thing they havd done to their truck. To me, personal opinion only, it is just a self serving braggard waste of bandwidth. That said, opinions vary!!

Rick-
I see what you're saying. I have to say though I really enjoy reading about everyone in their sigs. Since we can't see each other and talk directly on the site, it's getting a feel for everyone's personality. Part of the reason I spend so much time here is that it's a lot of fun "getting to know " people here. But you do make a good point. Sometimes brevity is better. I don't have to shorten my sig do I? It took me long enough to set it up.

Personally, I like a well detailed signature. The way I see it the signature does a couple of things.
1. If I'm having a problem it should provide enough detail so that others can make an informed reply without having to ask for more info.
2. By listing our mod's and upgrade it let's other see what we're doing and give them an opportunity to PM or email someone with specific questions about their truck mods/upgrades.
I agree, but over inflation of one's stable holdings ie 35'tt, 4 quads, 2m/cyles and 30'runabout, a dog with no hair, etc, serve no real purpose but to 1up the next guy. If you have a # of vehicles that "Rattle and Stink" show "all the details" about them, please.

Yep, I guess I left out the word relevant.......I agree, signatures should be limited to PSD relevant details. With that said I'm gonna go edit mine and clean it up a little.
