The head bolts on a 6.4 are larger partially because that engine is designed to run 40+ PSI.

FORD did the powertrain calibrations, not International.

Why does it matter who did the "Powertrain Calibrations" when the failures on the engine are entirely mechanical?

Is the engine leaking oil because Ford wrote the shift tables or something? Do the head gaskets go bad because Ford makes the engine retard power during shifts?

FYI, the 6.0 in the Vans has a lower horsepower rating than than those which are in the Trucks.

It like what Ford did with the V8 SHOs. Only was out for a few years knew there was problems, even though Ford didn't make the engine, they should have stood behind the customers. Then got rid of the engine. At $13k for a long block alot of people had a $30k paperweight.

The engine is part of the Powertrain. Your question's about shift points and shift tables makes it look like you're only considering transmission management. Ford also does the engine management. As for why does it matter who does the programming, it's because Ford used an engine barely capable of producing 265~ish HP reliably/dependably and fueled it up to 325~ish HP making it even more likely to break it's "mechanical" parts. Ford also used the fuel filter setup off of the v6. International uses a fuel filter setup more like the 7.3l. The filters on the 6.0 are the ones International uses on the 265 v6. If you take a weak engine with assembly problems and over work it, it won't last as long!

It would be nice if Ford gave you the option of which engine you would like to use as a replacement, when the original one dies.

I'll second that. I would like an 8.0L inline 6 in mine please.
