Day trip to Louisville - What to do?

My son graduates Basic from Fort Knox on the 31st. As I understand it, he will only have the one day off before traveling to Ft. Rucker to report for AIT (he's training for Air Traffic Control). Of course we are going to the graduation and then want to spend the rest of the day with him. I know the first thing on his mind will be the girlfriend, number two will be real food, and lastly spending the day with family. So what is there to do around there? Thanks for any and all suggestions.

Except it's only on weekends and Wednesdays as I understand it, in the late afternoon they shutdown Fourth Street, it's referred to as "Fourth Street Live", for a few blocks. That part of the street has a glass roof over the street above the adjacent buildings to help in wet weather. After a certain time of the evening it becomes over 21 only. Lot's of restaurants and bars. Close to the river and 4th street is a restaurant called Jeff Ruby's, best steak I ever ate. Bardstown Road has lots of places to eat, sorta like Broadripple. The dinner train is in Bardstown, southeast of Louisville, good food and interesting train to ride.

I just happen to think, you could take a tour of the Ky truck plant, LOL!

There is the Louisville Slugger factory and museum downtown if your into sports. Not far from there there is an Arms Museum plus a Science Museum.
