diesel schools

I am thinking about going to school to become a diesel tech/mech. I live in Illinois. Can anybody suggest a good school around here? I have done some reasearch on UTI. I have heard some guys say don't waste your time and some guys said that is the only place to go. Is there any truth behind that?
Any ideas how much UTI costs? I have looked into some tech colleges around Illinois and they seem to have some decent programs. They are 2 year degrees vs the 1 year at UTI.
Any feed back on UTI or other diesel schools would be great.

Just my opinion

for what it's worth....I don't like any of those "schools". they are in the business of making money . They are expensive and will only "teach" you a limited subject matter based on what you paid for . I would try the local community college first, that way you will get a broader knowledge base and it won't cost you an arm and a leg to see if diesel mechanic's is what you want to do.

Send a message via ICQ to WormDrowner
It might be worthwhile to call you local CAT or Cummins dealer and get some recommendations from their HR departments.

Good advice. Find a community college if you can...then, if you ever decide to go for a BA, you will already have a head start. And for far less money.
