High diesel prices force me to do the unthinkable

Yes, I am yet another victim of the high diesel prices I sold the Super Duty, I thought I was never gonna stop crying, not really, but seriously. I didn't give up the diesel game entirely I took delivery of my new to me Dodge on 6/21, But I will say Ive not owned a better truck or had a more unique dependable, blah blah blah I miss my super duty, but I love the Cummins at the same time. Im having mixed emotions right now.

If you sold your truck just to get better mpg only?
You could have drove the older truck paying higher prices for a lifetime cheaper than paying for the new truck and interest and fuel on top of that.

One would have to assume you wanted the new Dodge anyway and wanted to stir the pot here. But the economy reason will not pan out.

Yeah, I'd like to see the math on this one.

Even with the 2.99 a gallon diesel that Dodge has promised is it gonna make that much difference?

(oh I see you bought used so the 2.99 fuel deal is out the window, the economics are not looking good for you)

""UNTHINKABLE"""....Hardly.....
Considering a 40% "depreciation" of a new truck in the first two years....
"Past tense"...Depreciation has been the largest factor in owning any vehicle...
Fuel is catching up quickly....IMHO you made a mistake buying new truck....
Maybe trading it in on an older one, so you didn't have payments......
BUT...NOT trading for new, at this juncture....
ESPECIALLY, with the used prices dropping like stones....
>>>>"""YOU BOUGHT NEW"""<<<<< """ NOT SMART"""

Last night after work I filled my truck at the petrol station and then decided after the 194.00 it took to fill up that I would just limit my driving the truck on a Need To Go basis and ride my motorcycle a littel more to offset some of the expense. The price per gallon up where I work near the Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a whopping 5.24 per gallon. I will still never sell this truck...

Didnt buy brand new, Im leasing an 07, I pay 150 dollars a month more for the Dodge than the 250, I put about 25k a year on my truck so I pretty much just cut my fuel costs down by about 25%. My truck had 210k on it I dont have enough on hand cash to front for a tranny rebuild which was needed and Im pretty much positive I was about to lose a turbo. Dodge is in warranty, I got a good deal, It gets better mileage It pulls my trailer like a champ maintaining better fuel mileage than the 250, I mean so I guess I did the math pretty damn good. The super duty was a much more unique, customized, bigger, more spacious truck, but at this point the truck I have now suits my needs better. I loved my super duty and the last thing I would do is put down that truck.

This Cummins is a stout, highly respected engine.

Enjoy,

Like I said....With the price of these type of vehicles plummeting like a stone, it's not wise to purchase one now.....The fact that you are leasing changes the game....
The guy [stuckee] who is going to be getting this vehicle back in 2/3 years, is going to find, that the market price is not there to recapture his costs...
The old formulas for depreciation are moving out the window....

OTOH, maybe at that time one could make a deal and buy it back or let him deal with selling it.
