Somebody has to be out there killing women and kids so the rest of us are free to criticize them.

They even offered me a nice promotion if I would work out of the Pentagon, but again family came first so I took a lesser grade to be able to work out of Denver in a different office of HQ USAF. And my almost-12 years in uniform counted for federal civil service years of service, so it all worked out fine. And I didn't have to spend 13 months in Korea while my small kids did without Dad.

And BTW, both kids turned out wonderful.

Ditto.

I could have stayed in after VN but chose to to in the guard and still got to fly some cool planes. 20 or 25 in is not for everyone. My EX has about 24 in and is a Lt.Col/pilot but she will never leave, no family or other life to go to.

Think about what you are saying.

Women and children are the enemy in a country that has no Navy or Military.

This is one of the many thousands of Red Flags telling us that we shouldn't be there.

lets see 12 months in 2005 and now 15 months in 2008-2009, been an experience but after 6 years I am ready to move on to a 9-5. Reporters just try to create drama for ratings, I didnt see the interview but if that SSG had to make a split decision then so be it. BTW once you hit ground over here its usually 10-15hr days.

War is Brutal. Stuff happens. To focus on the incident is to obfuscate the fact that we shouldn't be there.

They could have been some jerk kids that wanted to shoot people, they could have been scared kids that feared for their lives, they could have been slightly mentally ill and became paranoid in the situation, they could have been highly experienced servicemen that had an error in judgement, they could have been highly experienced men that made a good judgement call in a situation that few can understand.

Who knows? One thing is certain, if we hadn't been there the incident would never have happened.

That's your opinion. Your opinion is shared by most leftists, socialists, peacniks, and others who simply hate the President of the United States.

It has nothing to do with whether they were a threat to our freedom, that's the wrong way to word it and creates poor dialogue from the get-go.

Were they or were they not a threat to our national security?

The answer is No. Sadaam was a "threat" to the security of Saudi Arabia, but we took care of that for the Saudis during the first Gulf War.

Now of course, there is a huge push to start a fight with Iran which is another "threat", not to the United States but Israel.

What criteria are we using to pick sides in these fights?
