Paint damage by gravel company - Diesel Forum

I have been getting sand and gravel products in my trucks for years. Today I went to someplace I usually don't as my usual supplier does not have 3/8 minus crushed rock. As the operator of a mid size backhoe dumped the load squarely in the center of the bed, all was good. She then backed up a couple of feet and dumped the rest on my bed wall and down the outside of the truck, (as fast as she went, I think she thought she was raising it), chipping up the paint to the tune of 1,200 bucks.

I spoke to the owner about it, and he said to bring it down and he will make it right. I am not looking for the 1,200 bucks, I just do not think it is that bad, just small chips. But it was their mistake. What do you all think is fair? 400 bucks and 10 yards delivered? 500 cash and walk.

(A side note, the operator of the 5 yard loader where I usually go gets it dead on EVERY time.)

Not looking for $1200 bucks, but $500 cash & walk is ok? Yes, 1 tough decision.

how about $1200 since thats what it takes to fix it?................

Get a written estimate and give it to him, he will probably just write you a check if he wants to make it right.

I had a really good experience getting crushed stone at a local quarry but I just recently had a friend tell me about a similar experience to your's, they dumped a huge amount of stone in his pickup truck spilling it over all sides in the process. Scratched up the truck on all sides of the bed.
